Bonus Midnight Rising chapter coming for Halloween · 2:03pm Oct 18th, 2020
I've mentioned it on other blogs and batted it around in my head for a bit, but I've decided to come back to Midnight Rising to do a bonus chapter, this one centered around Gilda the Griffon's appearance and experience when she crossed over to confront the human Rainbow. What sparked this was a sudden image I had of her that I wanted to commission from an artist, and from there it turned into a fantasy about how it might have happened in the course of Midnight Rising.
So I began playing to it in the latest chapters of Unleash the Magic: Nightmare Night, including this sequence, describing a griffon mating round (ritual mating duel griffons use to work themselves up and test a partner's worthiness for intimacy) between a curse-corrupted Rainbow Dash and an equally corrupted griffon female named Night Owl who worked at the Ponyville Post Office:
But far from unhappy, a now-sweating Shadowdash smiled even broader. “Not bad, Night Owl…” she admitted as she rubbed her jaw lightly and licked at her blood, the slash wounds quickly healing from her enhanced magic, disappearing before the eyes of all. “By tagging me like that in a mating round, you’re already one up on Gilda, you know.”
“Oh, please. Like that would be difficult!” the bat-winged griffon female mocked with a dismissive wave of her talons. “I did a round with her once myself, you know. She left me completely unsatisfied—she only fought half-heartedly before just rolling over and offering herself up, and then all she did after was talk about how much better it was with this ‘dweeb pony’ she once knew.” She rolled her eyes, then smiled. “So you’re already one up on her!”
“Aw, so she does miss me…” Shadowdash turned wistful for a moment. “Yeah, well, she’d never admit it, but she wanted to lose! Gilda loves being dominated and turned into a toy, but only after she’s well and truly beat. So you’re saying she didn’t fight?” she had to ask again.
“Not in the least,” Night Owl confirmed.
“Huh. That ain’t like her at all,” The former Rainbow looked worried for a moment. “Maybe she’s depressed. I know—when we invade the Kingdom, I’ll go find her and convert her. That should cheer her up! But before then, I guess I need a new griffie to enjoy. And you’re it, Owlie—so prepare to be bottomed!”
Well, you'll find out in this bonus chapter why Gilda's not herself right now, and it's not quite what Rainbow Dash/Shadowdash thinks. As currently envisioned, the bonus scene will be told from Gilda's point of view, and by the end involve a lot more individuals than just her and Rainbow!
