Recent comments have brought something to mind that I cannot shake.
I have really, really messed up The Side Character Is a Deer in recent times.
Originally the story was supposed to more more in line with something like Tien from TFS's abridged series of Dragonball Z. A character who is kind of useless and he knows it and feels completely cheated as a result.
That was the original idea, and that is what the plot summary was advertising, but afterwards I found that I really missed the mark and people in the comments have informed me of that fact. I really overcomplicated the story and thus ruined the intentioned result.
As a result, I may be cancelling the story, which if it does come to pass, a friend of mine by the name of Toxicfox will be taking over the story and either continuing or rewriting it into a new form.

You do not need to cancel the story but this is a good opportunity to turn Johan into a villain kind of like Darkside from DC
I don’t think you need to cancel, this story can still continue even if it has strayed fr9m it’s original path. I am personally enjoying the story and Johann can still go so many directions.
I think where you strayed from your intended goal is that in DBZ Abridged Krillin's situation is comedic and slapstick, it doesn't forcibly hold him down and make him suffer. What you were aiming fir was Comedy, what you ended up is Tragedy. There's no jokes or mirth, just the protagonist having bad things happen while nobosy cares and he isn't allowed to have nice things. You end up with a downwards-point tone instead of an uplifting one.
