The Amazon LOTR series · 6:04pm Aug 25th, 2020
Does anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming Amazon LOTR series?
LOTR as in The Lord of the Rings.
I like big ponies and I cannot lie.

It has potential and I have hope that it'll be good but I'm still skeptical
My fingers are crossed, my sword polished, arrows fletched, axe sharpened. Ready, eager, and holding my breath with trepidation.

I am pretty skeptical as well.

Let's hope it doesn't go full woke garbage.
Like somehow... makes orcs not evil. When they were created by Morgoth to be evil. Literally written in their DNA to be evil by dark magic.

That'd be stupid as all hell. And let's hope they won't try diversity casting just because just about everyone in Middle Earth is white. That's the bloody point, since Tolkien based his stories off of European folklore and mythology. They should put all of their focus on respecting the source material and making an actual good series.

LOTR has diversity already. There are men (humans of many kinds), dwaves, elves, NĂºmenĂ³reans (long lived humans), hobbits, high elf, wood elf. There are also orcs... but they shown to be nothing but pure evil. And maybe even more races.
There might be non whites in far south Harad. But that's about it. Unfortunately, they all be under the rule of Sauron. Sauron does not tolerate disobedience, so he will either kill you or enslave you if you resist.

Right, just not the "diversity" most people want to include. They might have a cast made up mostly of non-white actors just to be inclusive and add in SJW lessons just because.

Yeah, it could be total nonesence.
Imagine if they start saying Gondor is evil... for defending the entire world from the darkness of Mordor. Just because they killed some Easterlings. (men of Harad, Khand, Rhun) who were allied to the Dark Lord of Mordor.
Not to say all Easterlings were evil. It's understandable to serve evil if you have no other choice.

That's true. And hey, since this is a prequel to the main series, we could get even more world building, maybe even content from Tolkien's lesser known works, like The Silmarillion or The Children of Hurin.

Oh Lord no, God-Emperor on his throne, no! Just imagine, like you said about Gondor, saying the Elves are evil because they manipulate other races so they can stay in power forever. Or that dragons or that Shelob and her spawn are victims, or that the Maia are agents of authoritarianism... or if they go real deep into it, saying that Iluvatar is an evil, petty God and that Morgoth wished to end his tyrannical rule!?

Morgoth: I want to kill everyone! And burn the entire planet.
SJW: I see his point of view.
Suaron: I will spare you... if you accept my will to dominate all life. But otherwise, I will genocide your people or enslave your people.
SJW: I see his point of view.
...First off what else are you thinking of other then Lord of the Rings when you think of LOTR?
Other then that I think it interesting the first season or two, steadily get worse, get a hope inspiring jump in quality before facing a decision on weather to go through one of two doors which will decide if the series continues or not.
...Soo basically the same path that other series face.
