On the next Nightmare Night chapter, as motivation to write has been lacking of late due to a variety of reasons, both professional and personal. Nevertheless, it's coming along bit by bit. To this point, I've finished about 2500 words and close to two sections of it, but the primary two sections regarding the battle between Night Owl and Shadowdash remains to be written.
I can at least report that the two more or less finished sections look good, and will include a check back over with Luna in a scene that will once again incorporate some of AJ_Aficionado's wonderful and well-thought thestral lore, while the other will shift the scene back to our favorite fallen Prince, where you'll find out what's going on with him and our newly captured Colonel. Expect plenty of M-rated action in the latter!
Some of you should be happy to know that that after this, I've decided to do two or three chapters of Trials and Tribulations, as those are significantly shorter than the main story chapters and require much less storytelling/scene setting. Just adult action for its own sake, which can be quite refreshing.
But more on that later. In the meantime, there will be one more update and possibly a teaser before the new chapter is published. That story was a real gamechanger for me. I made huge strides improving at all levels of production but especially in terms of pacing. Remember all that talk we had on Skype about AC and DC? DFTB achieved AC/DC — a series of escalating sexual encounters capped off by a major one between one two-character team. This is a perfected new model to build short clopfics on that keeps readers engaged and allows for nice cooloff periods between the sex.
I still have some room to grow in terms of writing the sex itself but between you and Clopficsinthecomments, I see a bright future for myself in that regard. The sky's the limit, I think.
The next story will be a Loving Submission prequel. I won't be using the AC-DC model. I'm going to play things a bit more... dangerously. The model for the next fic will be something I call "drumfire". It's going to be a torture test to see just how long I can carry on a scene.
