    Seeking her Crown: Update 3/3

    Good evening, fillies and gentlecolts!

I hope the day is finding you well. As usual, I'll be starting with the current word count for the upcoming sequel. And, as usual, it's absolutely abysmal.
Start of 7/27 Shift Goal: 13,000 words
Actual 7/27 Word Count: 2,798 words (10,203 word deficit)

    Seeking her Crown: Update 2.1/3

Quick head's up. While I've been moving ahead pretty well with getting a lot of the key story points written down, I've actually not managed to get the first chapter to a publishable point just yet. So, the hopeful early release this coming Saturday won't be happening. See y'all Monday night for the last pre-release update.

    Seeking her Crown: Update 2/3

    Good evening, fillies and gentlecolts!

Let's go ahead and get the shaming out of the way. Another week is down, and it's another week with massively sub-par returns on word count to report. Here's the numbers:
Start of 7/20 Shift Goal: 8,000 words
Actual Word Count: 2,192 words (5,808 word deficit)

Seeking her Crown: Update 1/3? · 4:44am Jul 14th, 2020

Greetings fillies and gentlecolts!

I hope this blog post finds everyone well. I know there was a large demand for the sequel to Awaiting her Title, so I figured I'd keep everyone up to date. As mentioned in the comments section of the story, the goal for the sequel is to have a story that is on the order of 19,000 words. Why this length, I hear you ask? Well, listening to a bunch of audio recordings of various people reading stories, I've found that the length of the audio book is roughly equal to 181 words per minute. While rounded up, the goal of 19,000 words would put a read version of the story on the order of a 105 minute (1 hour and 45 minute) movie. It also mean that I could set a goal of 1,000 words a shift and only come up 1,000 words short by the planned release date. Something that's easy to catch up over the coarse of a weekend, especially with three full weekends in the mix between when I started and when I intend to publish.

So, where am I? With the first weekend past us, and at the end of a partial week (I only started writing on Wednesday), here's the numbers:
Projected Word Count, Start of 7/13 Shift: 3,000 words
Actual Word Count, Start of 7/13 Shift: 1,058 words

Yeah... Sorry folks. I kinda told myself during the work week that it was OK to be falling behind a bit, because I had the weekend to play catch-up. The weekend hit... and I was off to Post-Apocalyptic Appalachia because I was in the mood to game. Not really an excuse, just an explanation. Hopefully this week will see me kick myself into gear and get caught up, or even get ahead, of my word count goals. It's my plan to update y'all again on the night of the 20th and the 27th (Though, like today, the blog post may end up being published in the early morning hours of the 21st and 28th, respectively). Who knows, maybe I'll publish some other random blog posts in between. Doubt it, but maybe.

Now, as the tags say, I do have a question I want to ask y'all. Leave an answer in the comments:
I currently have the story set up to be written as about 18 1,000 word chapters and a 1,000 word epilogue. That may change, depending on how the story progresses. Once complete, would you rather I publish everything at once? Or would you want a daily, or even weekly, release schedule?

Go with a schedule that's most comfortable/least stressful to yourself. We can wait if you need to take the time to get it all in order. Or, if posting weekly motivates you, then do that instead. I know I'd prefer to get a completed story eventually rather than have the author burn out halfway through while trying to keep to a schedule they weren't ready for.
