It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

    Oh shit, words

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

I founda bottle of rum lurking at the back of a cupboard.

Honey spiced rum. Beepr's rum, apparently. It's quite nice, tastes of christmas. Wife thinks it tastes of home, so it must be special.

It's incidental.

I exercised earlier, in a discord chat, the issue of timing and writing, and the distance between one moment and the next. I've just written a scene that I have been looking forward to writing for quite some time, and that forms one of the key moments in the fic in which it takes place, as a reference back to an earlier moment that seemed, at the time, relatively innocuous. The only issue is, the amoutn of time between scene A and Scene B (B being the Best scene up to this moment) means that more than a few of my readers will have waited so long for the next chapter that they may not necessarily remember the moment previously referenced, and might miss the entire point of everything that happens in the whole, er, thing.

BUT ANYWAY

I am writing one of those moments. I wanted to write this several years ago. It's got me all giddy and, to be frank, I am a bit giggly about publishing it. If you're an earlier ready, or someone who has forgotten all that came before, I beg your indulgence on this. You may be rewarded. You may not. Such is life. I only regret that it's taken so long to get to this point.

I'm off to find more rum now. Tata!

And yes the tagged story is relevant.

Hi!

I'm a writer!

Well. I suppose I'll have to reread an archonix story. Woe. Tragedy. Whatever shall I do? :pinkiehappy:

Rum, an old friend that likes to kick me in the end after leaving... I believe I shall go invite the kraken over.
