Doing some character profiles of background characters that won't get much attention from Silver Spoon Adopts a Naga and Quantum Leap Forward. First up: Sweetie Belle's husband, Silk Suede.
Silk Suede Is a grey unicorn stallion with a white mane. He works for Rarity, buying and seeing that the appropriate fabrics are maintained in each of her shops. He reviews orders and inventory from each of the boutiques, sees that they are filled, adds additional fabrics where he notices shortages that weren't mentioned, and sends follow up letters asking for more information when he notices highly unusual requests. He gives regular reports to Rarity about the costs and what her boutiques have been ordering the most and least of. He isn't a designer, but he fills a very important role in Rarity's fashion empire.
It was through his employment that he met Sweetie Belle. The two eventually married and had a single foal, a colt named Silk Sheen.
However, there is some friction in the marriage. Both Silk Suede and Sweetie Belle are very busy ponies. This limits their time together, and what time they do have together is mostly focused on taking care of their son or trying to just rest. In addition to this, they often are in positions where their schedules are unpredictable, and neither can watch their son, or worse- they are suddenly called away from Ponyville, and they are left making very last minute plans for a foalsitter. It is a frustrating situation for them, and it inevitably leads to one or the other speculating if the other really is too busy (even though they know they are telling the truth, the stress is speaking). They have gotten an occasional date night in when they can arrange for a foalsitter, and not have any unforseen events get in the way, but these feel few and far between for them.
Between Silk Suede's position and the salary Sweetie Belle pulls in as teacher at the School of Friendship (which has additional bonus salary for teaching additional mid-level to advanced level magic, cutie mark counseling, conducting the school's chorus, and assisting with magical research) they are low tier wealthy, bordering between high middle class and low end upper class.
