Just a random thought I had.
Apple Bloom asked, "What the heck is this?"
Rota Fortuna said, "This is the age of the spiders... so far into the future that Equestria's sun has long since burned out... along with the suns that were born from it... and over, and over... These sapient spiders are the last self-aware species to evolve in the universe... several trillion light years away from the galaxy Equus once orbited Celestia... Other species have long since ascended or died out... they are alone... They also find out that they are indeed in a universe on the edge of dying of old age... Their fusion-fission breeder reactors sustain them for about a million years after its invention... The universe was already winding down by the time they achieved sapience. Not a long legacy but an admirable one.
"Their eight greatest math-masters challenge Entropy to mental combat, bending reality itself with their mathematical truths, each one at least as powerful as Queen Majesty if not more so... and lost. The last of their species will ascend... where I have greeted him, and he helps me weave the start of the web of fate at the start of your universe's existence as he always has as I teach him as his mentor... and he will witness the rebirth of this universe... "

In Lovecraft's setting, sapient spiders will be the last rulers of earth before the sun burns out, and Rota Fortuna has a spider motif on her barding, so I felt it was appropriate.
