What think you? · 2:40am Nov 21st, 2012
This tends to be controversial.
What do you think of private civilians owning firearms?
Since I asked, I answer: I am very pro-firearm ownership.
To give you an idea of how pro I am, as determined by total ownership.
I own:
2 NSVT's, ($900 ea., inc. $200 tax stamp)
10 Mosin–Nagant 1944 Carbine's, ($92 ea.)
4 AKM's, ($400 ea., inc. $200 tax stamp)and 4 GP-25 ($350 ea., inc. $200 tax stamp)
4 7.62 mm Izhmash SVD's (Dragunov's), ($120 ea.)
2 PTRS-41 ($500 ea., inc. $200 tax stamp)
2 AR-15's. ($1,200 ea.)
Total cost w/out ammo: $9,600
I only had to pay import taxes, tariffs and the $200 Tax Stamp that allows legal fully automatic weapon and explosive weaponry ownership.
The exception to the above sentence on all accounts are the AR-15's.
According to the government, my opinion doesn't make a difference, BUT I do think that civilians should be allowed to own firearms. If they said we weren't, we still would. Kinda like people and weed.
And I own a BB gun. And that's it. My Dad has a 12 gauge shotgun (not a clue on the make, but the things around twelve years old and has only been shot a few times.) and a new Beretta 9mm. I think my grandmother has a .357 Magnum. I'm not a huge gun buff, though. I don't know alot.

I find it impossible to disagree with your first sentence, mainly due to its accuracy.
12 Gauge shotgun that's 12 years old, I feel that it has been shot 12 times I like unexpected humor. I am surprised at your grandmother's choice of firearm and fear for the one that it is fired at.
"There is no shame in lacking knowledge, only in not increasing it is there such" A quote that was half relevant (the first half).
Also added Wikipedia links to the firearms I own.

He actually got that shotgun to fend off idiots for Y2K, in case somebody tried to rob our house. My granny is a badass. I had a pretty good idea of what the Dragunov was, and I know what the AR-15 & the AKM are. Heck, I may be getting to shoot one in a few days. And that machine gun looks pretty badass.
Edit: I've shot the 9mm and the .357, last time we got the shotgun out I was small enough for it to have blown me flat on my bum.

That event didn't really happen in Russia, outside a few "tourist" citys, people there are used to computers going haywire. Still a good reason to have one, afterall who wants maniacs in the house. Yes, yes she is. They are all fun to shoot, everything is. Still a lot of weight compared to the Kord 12.7mm. Is still very good gun
$1200 for an AR-15? You got some of the good ones.
I built mine on my kitchen table. Beforehand, I calculated all the parts available. Cheapest I could have gone would be about $550. Based on what I actually did, it was closer to $750. It's a Doublestar lower receiver, and most of the other parts are from Del-Ton. 16 inch heavy barrel, 9 inch (mid-length) gas system, M4 stock. (Cheap) quad rails from UTG. Going with rails from Knight's and a pencil barrel, I probably could have saved myself a pound or so. With iron sights, a bipod, and mid-grade Remington UMC ammo, it's good for 1.2 MOA @ 100 yards
I sold it to my uncle about six months ago when I moved across the country. Maybe I'll build another one someday.
Here's a tip: Magpul sucks. The only parts I've ever broken came from them. Yes, even a PMAG.

Yeah. 'Murica, 'n all that shiz. Shotguns? Meh, I have a bowling pin. I was at a museum once and they had an anti-tank machine gun (I'm assuming from WWI or WWII, and DAMN that thing was HUGE!) They also had a buffalo rifle, set out where people could try and hold it. I could barely pick it up! Try shooting one of them.
OMC! I forgot 6 of them! Remedied. Guess which ones they are
522796 I don't buy Magpul, only sell their stuff (cheap too, cause my customers know that it has lower durability). I've only put a total of 120 rounds through the both of them, to get them zeroed- knock them around abit to loosen them and zero again
Don't know what the MOA is on them though
522807 Did it look like this or this? I've shot a Lahti L-39 when I wasn't prepared for it, I hurt
Edit: Anti-Tank Machine Gun, that could hurt to shoot
522941
The buffalo rifle, or the AT guns?
522957 I know the AT guns hurt if you don't position them right, don't know about the buffalo rifle but that would make it a pain to aim with it being that heavy.
522956 Hmm?
Yeah, the AT guns looked like they could have been made for mounting on something. They had some of the rounds sitting out next to them, but I can't recall much about them, they could have been something totally different.

Buffalo Rifle.
522975 Sadly or oddly my first thought was: Oooh....shiny!
That would have a lot of recoil but it appears very easy to correctly place to avoid painful recoil. Very heavy looking barrel
522988
Ahah! AT Machine Gun! I believe this is what I saw, or at the very least made for the same purpose.
Edit: I forgot a link. Heh. http://www.militaryfactory.com/imageviewer/sa/pic-detail.asp?smallarms_id=271&sCurrentPic=pic2
522992 The Lahti L-39 AT Rifle is a semi-automatic, gas operated weapon. They did make a version, Lahti L-39/44, that was fully automatic but it had a different purpose. It fires a 20×138mmB cartridge. Another incredibly simple weapon.
You are partially correct as there is a version that is fully automatic, it has a different mount (I would hope!) I have learned though, I didn't know that there existed a fully automatic variant!

It's Chuck Norris's BB gun.
523029 Indeed

In a few years, we should all take a road trip across the US, just for the hell of it.

You do support private ownership of firearms!?
525521 Nope
I just noticed this:
>Total cost w/out ammo: $9,600
What does the portalz0r say about the smoker's weapon cost?
526230 Why not? I am curious.
I do not know. What thinkst thou?
(pretty cheap for 24 weapons, 28 if you include the launchers.)
526252
im so jelly over you, guys. if i even want to have a gun, i must go through load of shit and be a member of a hunt club to buy me a shotty (no more than 10 loads in clip). and i should owe smooth-bore for 5 years to get a real gun, also no more than 10 loads in clip. no pistols and stuff.
590775
You are Canadian or British...
Yes?
Believe me, it was a b*** to get everything that has the $200 tax-stamp in-country
Paperwork is never fun.

imma russian...

This must be lies!
That is where I was born and raised, yet I, obviously, gained equipment that would be illegal.
...huh.
I apparently did illegal activitydl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Octavia_O_O.png
Considering that I was imprisoned once as well, I must admit sincere confusion as to how I have legal paperwork for those weapons that I imported for personal use into the US. I don't recall bribing anyone eitherdl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Lyra_ooh.png
So, what part are you from?
591598
that may sound rather typical, but i'm from kinda-not-moscow-but-surrounded-by-moscow-city. that is not an actual city name, by the way
593806 Bah, I'm using an American keyboard, and Americans are incredibly ignorant of other countries names - let alone those countries cities names.
Alright, mini-rant over.
Lack of a Crylic keyboard and Fimfic's sudden inability to accept Crylic disallows a proper name
That is ringing bells that have lain in dust for awhile. Aggh! My head is filled with webs!
I do seriously question why I have what was accepted as legal paperwork now though, I've never actually bothered to pay much attention to laws
593806 I didn't just somehow delete your newest comment did I?
593848
no, i just tried Cyrillic and found out that it makes post derp, so i deleted it.
