Whew, this chapter was a doozy to write. And not just because it probably has the most intense action scenes in the entire story…
I wanted to get a chapter out during my school’s quarantine period. While I had more free time than before, that didn’t last long when a last-minute schedule change moved all the exams earlier. I ended up writing this chapter in the span of three to four weeks, at a pace faster than usual, because the last thing I wanted to do was write a chapter during the obscenely long exam period that would be the entirety of the month of May.
Further proof that medical school is for masochists.
As for what happens in this chapter, that picture above? That was what spawned the entire fic. Even during the days when Spectrum was just a short writing exercise called “Lightning Mare,” there was an airship action scene.My pre-readers and I are really happy with the result though, even if it ended up quite different from the original.
Speaking of pre-readers, I’d like to give a big, big thanks to Sparkle Cola. He is my biggest critic, but also the biggest help at getting this chapter to the standard of quality I demand from it. Heck, he practically wrote the near-pass scene at the end! That part was always quite difficult for me to get right.
