One hundred eleven upvotes. Approximately 2,100 views. Multiple hits in the feature box. All that's missing is a feature in Equestria Daily.

I really can't thank you guys enough for getting me this far. I couldn't have asked for a better readership.

Let's bring you all up to speed on the next chapter update. :twilightsheepish: No, I'm not dead. The next chapter is actually finished, but my editors and pre-readers are still going through it. Can't do y'all a disservice by showing you my plothole-ridden first drafts, now would I?

Luckily for you guys, the chapter is going to be split into two due to its length and pacing. You'll get the first part next week, on the 19th, and the second part on May 26 or June 2.

So to make up for it, let's have a throwback. As I said in my Q&A answers, Spectrum started life as a dark, broody adventure a la Tomb Raider 2013. What I didn't mention is that the circumstances wherein Velvet and Daring met were very, very different. Instead of Spectrum of Lightning, the story was titled Lightning Mare. Instead of a train, Velvet was in an airship. Instead of mercenaries, the enemies were renegade soldiers.

And instead of pride, I look at this previous version of Spectrum with contempt. It lacked the easygoing tone of the present incarnation of the story and failed to provide enough opportunities for Velvet to demonstrate her plucky personality.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. And now you have to opportunity to see for yourself!

Okay, I'm definitely giving those early drafts a look at some point.
