Cruisin' MLP: The Bridges Of Lancaster County (aka Ponies, Horses, & Mustangs, Oh My!) · 8:10pm Mar 22nd, 2020

What's this? A sequel to a story nobody asked for a follow-up on? What madness is this?!?

Car Wash was written with me as the protagonist. I've never been one for first-person perspective, but what a difference six months makes. I experimented with it for Car Wash, and now I find myself writing first-person almost exclusively.

That said, a good chunk of this was written in 2015, well before Car Wash was even a thing I imagined. Specifically, the details of a real life cruise were written in the hope of submitting it to either the national Mustang club's newsletter or possibly a magazine. But the hosting club couldn't agree on what they wanted the final product to be like, and I gave up on it. So this has been sitting on my harddrive for years without doing anything with it. A recent conversation with Admiral Biscuit reminded me that this was gathering dust, so I decided it was time to take some action regarding it.

The pacing is fast, but remember, this was originally intended to be an article in either a newsletter or magazine, so it was necessarily brief. Sadly, it's been so long since I was on the cruise that I don't have enough of the details to really expand on it, so I'm leaving the breakneck pacing alone. It's a Mustang cruise, after all. It seems appropriate.

The other issue is it was originally written in present tense, and I converted it to past tense. Huge thanks to Admiral Biscuit who went through and cleaned this up. It was a mess!

What I do have, however, are hundreds of photos to show for it. I went on this cruise three years in a row, and I was official cruise photographer each time. Auto photography is one of my hobbies. If you see a car photo in one of my stories or blogs, I took it personally. And this is the second story to feature my personal 2008 Mustang in the title image (though I should also note I own the car Razaroo was driving as well: it's a 1982 notchback that's pictured below). AB more-or-less dared me to break his record of having four pictures of his own cars as title images. Two down, a third in progress (and has been for years!), and I have no idea what I'll do to get up to at least five. Probably some more cute fluffy sequels to Car Wash (like this one).

Covered bridge cruises are a thing. The Mustang club's not the only one to do something like this, and I've taken part in other cruises over covered bridges for other car clubs too. If you ever get the opportunity to go on one, take it!

Trio of Mustangs caught behind a slow-moving horse & buggy? Yeah, I've got pics of that (I'm in the third, you can just see the back of my car's hood at the bottom):

Razzaroo's car? Not only do I have pics of it, I own it. It's also conveniently parked next to Sunny Daze's car (red convertible).

Wysteria's ride:

And here's (another) Mustang with a leaf stuck in the grill (the first is the yellow & flames convertible in the leaf lead image):

Only because she didn't have any dialogue, yes, yes, yes.
