What about SciTwi? She's a unicorn too, according to when she, Sunset, and Rainbow accidentally fell into Equestria. And even if you want her pony-up form to be an alicorn, then there's still a horn.
We're all horny around here...
Speaking of retcons, there's a case VERY early in Long Road to Friendship; at the street fair, she eats a hotdog, despite later being depicted as vegetarian. Just a minor blip.

Seriously, this is a good thing. It was something they could have done easily to differentiate between the Earth Pone pony up and Unicorn pony up.
I hand waved it as powers still growing and when they hit full saturation boom! Horns.
I mean, it's fine that she didn't have one. Rarity and Twilight never did in the actual EqG movies from what I remember, and Sunset has been using her magic through her hands in this story

Don't worry, it's fine. You have a lot going on and little details slip through the cracks for every author. Don't put so much pressure on yourself, you're doing great. And the hot dog scene from LRtF still makes sense, as you did a blog saying Sunset is a vegetarian, but will eat meat if she has to if there is nothing else. Your story is great and engaging, always having me excited for me. ^_^

In other words, it's now in line with the original film's novelization, in which Twilight and Rarity have horns when they pony up.
I have no objections to this.

You know I was legit curious about that. I think I remember it being vaguely mentioned ONCE but didn't pay it much mind. In my stories instead of a horn I just have a jewel appear on their foreheads if they are a unicorn and that acts as their 'horn' or they gain that magic like horn Midnight Sparkle gets

Genuinely, is there a lot of people actually appreciating this detail?
To be fair it still feels weird to picture any EqG characters having one (if you compare with their counterparts, but it doesn't feel weirder or more pointless than Sci-Twi wings ^^).
Not because it's contrasting with the generic pony-up from EqG, even with Daydream or Midnight it felt a bit too much back then. Now I've warmed up to that, but it's definitely something I've not seen in most stories.
If anyone think it's a nice detail to have been added, I would like to know your thoughts, so I can understand better why it feels special for you.
