Cadence and Twilight are talking in her sitting room.

Twilight: "You know Cadence, I have to ask..."

Cadence: "Yes?"

Twilight: "Chrysalis as you tried to place a mind control spell on Shepherd, but all it did was just creep him out. I was wondering if he was immune to other forms of mind control magic, like your love magic."

Cadence: "It isn't technically mind control, you know... But all right!"

Spike: "You're way too okay with trying to use mind control magic on your coltfriend, you know."

Twilight: "Come on Spike! We'll ask him when he-"

*Shepherd walks in, and Cadence casts it*

Twilight: "CADENCE!"

Cadence: "What? Relax. If he's immune, nothing will happen. If he's not, he'll be trying to make out with me."

Shepherd: *Blink... Blink blink*

Twilight: "... Andrew?"

Shepherd: "Why did Cadence shoot me with pink crap?"

Twilight: "You... How do you feel?"

Shepherd: "Confused?"

Cadence: "Huh... So he's immune to mind control!"

Shepherd: "What."

Chrysalis: *Sipping coffee* "I could have told you that. He is literally the thickest skulled being I've ever met."

Shepherd: "I'll take that as a compliment, and Cadence what the hell?! You tried to mind control me into loving you?!"

Cadence: "Sorry. Would lust be better? Or do you not need any help with that?"

Shepherd: "... How hard did Chrysalis have to pretend to be you?"

Chrysalis/Cadence: "Hey!"

Hahaha, Heck yeah. That was funny!

Cadence: Twilight, try zapping something with the Want-it, Need-it spell. We can see what effect that has on him.

Chrysalis: Or zap him with it and see how long he survives the lust-crazed pony pile.

I love these stories.

This needs to be written up. Shepherd versus the horny mares of Ponyville.

Shepherd: "... How hard did Chrysalis have to pretend to be you?"

:rainbowlaugh:

Shepherd: "... How hard did Chrysalis have to pretend to be you?"

Cadence: "Hey!"

Chrysalis: Not very.

Cadence: "Hey!"

Hehehe! Love it. As for Cadance's powers, I explained it thusly in my story:

Spike's eyes went wide. "Oh, no, don't you go working your freaky alicorn love spells on me!"

Cadance's ears flicked hard. "Oh for Pete's sake! Do ponies believe that I can actually force two ponies to love each other?!"

"Well... isn't that your special talent?"

"No!" she said, stomping an exaggerated hoof on the ground. "I can sense the positive energy from the love between two ponies, and if given enough time I can inject a bit of power into the system. I don't make ponies love each other. I just remind them why they already do."

"Oh, well... that's very comforting. For a while there I kinda thought you were some crazed Cupid."

By the by, sorry I keep referencing my stories in your blogs. I just love discussions of different head canons, and yours are a treat to hear. :twilightsheepish:

It's cool. Though if you take story commissions, I might have an interesting idea for you...

This raises some SERIOUS questions regarding her love magic. Is she REALLY fixing relationships, or just delaying the inevitable? I wonder what laws she broke on a regular basis back when she was living in Canterlot.

5169168
TBH that method is still not foolproof either. "Reminding" people why they love each other doesn't save a dying marriage because of inexplicable differences in character, philosophy, etc. that are not able to be mended through a reminder that they love each other. Love's irrational after all, so even true love can cripple a relationship under the best of circumstances.

Seriously, no matter how you quantify love, the only way Cadance does her thing in MOST fanfics is if she completely throws consent out of the window and just forces the love again in some manner. How forced it is depends on the fic and how it's explained. Other fics take it a different direction and use the original intended methods for how she got her cutie mark in the first place, usually by having her act as a marriage counselor of sorts.

That would be the case for humans, but remember, this is the far more positive race of ponies where friendship is a literal magic and love really can give strength. Once the ponies are shown the 'light', they tend to swiftly go along with it.

5169187
Lightning Dust, the Flim Flam brothers, FREAKING COZY GLOW. Yeah, they all 'went along with it,' so well.

How’s that saying go? “With rose-colored glasses, red flags look like regular flags?”

Dan

Starlight barges in:
"Somepony is using unethical magic and nopony invited me?!"

That last line is killing me…! :rainbowlaugh:

It's red flags look white

Not going to comment on all of these, but I do wish you'd collate these into the main story, or a side story. I might have read them sooner and saved myself from another late night.
I like seeing these uncomplicated fun stories, and you're right in the sense that Shepherd beats 'Anon' as a protagonist's name.
Keep them up!

I would. It's just that changing all these from script format takes time.

5169347
Fair enough! Don't remember if there are guidelines against uploading script formats, but it works either way.

Objectively that is wrong. Ponies are more "good" and "law" aligned than humanity. If I had to describe it using the 2 primary axes of alignment. Humanity is more neutral aligned, with a strong leaning towards chaos. However, this doesn't mean they're more inclined towards a more "sticky" sort of relationship. Fact is, Ponies are flawed, just like humans. It's just that socially they're more gregarious and more inclined to cooperate, but this doesn't mean bad ponies don't exist, and it also doesn't mean bad relationships don't exist. I mean, Starlight straight up was in an abusive relationship with the ENTIRE TOWN SHE FOUNDED. If that level of extreme is reached by a villain who is not only redeemable, but understandable in the conclusions she had made pertaining to WHY she formed her town, then it means that ponies are quite capable of the same fuck ups that we make as a species. Furthermore, your concept of being shown the "light" reeks of positing predestination as objective fact. In truth, Ponies are meant to be based off humans with less negative aspects to them, especially social and societal aspects. Still doesn't stop ponies from being bad or evil in any way, just that those aspects are more subdued among the population. I mean we've straight up had MULTIPLE pony villains, and multiple times the magic of friendship and love has FAILED. If villains like Chrysalis had been just the slightest bit more thorough or willing to actually KILL, then Equestria would have fallen MULTIPLE times over the course of the show.

TL;DR what you're saying is hogwash and a pretty shitty excuse for covering up the fact that ponies are flawed and just as prone to bad relationships as we are.

Cadence lacked some character depth.

Lightning Dust: arrogant jerk, not evil. Give a solid whack to the head and some positive social interaction to mitigate, if not cure her problem. Never shown the light (which in this context is Friendship from Twilight, Princess of Friendship), so couldn't "go along with it".
Flim and Flam: Con-Ponies, not truly evil (no matter what the time travel showed). Get them to sell quality products to help them become better (with some oversight so they don't relapse). Never shown the light.
Cozy Glow: reminds me of Delores Umbridge, can be considered evil. Shown the light, and wanted it to be hers and hers alone.

Also, I said 'tend', which means that I know there are those exceptions to the trend, the "outliers of the herd", if you will.

5169772
When I said 'light', I was referring to a reminder of the positive memories in a relationship, not

positing predestination as objective fact

.
Also, humans are not neutral with leanings toward chaos, humans are creatures of extremes. Extremely good, extremely evil, extremely neutral. Extremely lawful, extremely chaotic, extremely disorganized.

5170140
Order is only chaos viewed through a particular lens. You can find patterns in TV static, for example, but you have to be looking for them. Humanity is the chaotic type of ordered, not the lawful type of ordered. Don't mistake the two for being the same. We're neutral because we easily reach the three extremes of good, neutral, and evil so I have to generalize for the whole of humanity, and we lean towards chaos for reasons I just explained.

Also, reminders of the good memories in a relationship means you're explicitly ignoring the fact that NOT ALL RELATIONSHIPS HAVE GOOD MEMORIES. Again, BAD RELATIONSHIPS ARE OBJECTIVELY POSSIBLE AMONG PONYKIND, AS EXHIBITED BY STARLIGHT. Personal, interpersonal, and intrapersonal relations can all be soured in some way. There are plenty of redeemable ones, but there are always going to be ones that are a shitshow almost immediately from the get go, and the good memories of those if any are always at the immediate start of the relationship.

Also, if you're going to use a word in quotes, explain the context because connotation and denotation of a given word requires CONTEXT. for example, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word set has 464 different distinct definitions, and the word run has 396. I can keep going here. go has 368, take has 343, stand has 334, etc. Context is king here, especially on the internet where it's very difficult to convey tone.
