Taking into account feedback and my own thoughts on the matter, here is currently my plan moving forward. Subject to change if necessary.
1) An epilogue chapter will be done to cap the current main story into Book 1. This will not end the main storyline, only to leave a solid stopping point for the next part of the story.
2) As much as I would enjoy doing a reboot, I worry the lack of conclusion on this storyline would haunt me. Moving forward into Book 2 I can begin to incorporate some of the plot elements from the later half of the show into the story. Granted, we're already into alternate universe territory, but I always found it gave the story a bit more grounding when I touched on canon information.
3) Characters I highly expect to make an appearance in Book 2 are Glim-Glam, the waifu Kirin, Edgelord lady Fizzlepop, Sunny Buns, Bug-mom. Others are possible if they would work with the story at that time but nothing is planned out for them. The storyline is most important, fitting in existing characters that work is a bonus.
4) After the epilogue is out, I will try to set up a Patreon and see how it works. If by some chance the return is good, I'd basically be able to produce a chapter a month. If by miracle it's quite good, I can also produce regular side stories. One of them being Starstep and Lighthoof's time in the guard academy. Weither I'll leave it as a one-off story or figure out how to squeeze into the Book 1 Chapter listings, I dunno yet. But I'm not gonna put the cart before the horse till I see how this all pans out.
Anyhoof. That's what I currently have in mind. When the Book 1 Epilogue is done, I'll have to find an editor that is familiar with old archaic english (aka Luna speak) and grammar structures. I may be a decent story teller but my schooling in the structures of the written word is iffy. Moon be with you Readers.

I've kept up with the show, so I hadn't given up on MLP, I just couldn't invest the time into writing. Juggling many RL things.
