Anyone else getting a ton of feed notifications when you only have one or two actual updates? I keep logging in with a little six or eight next to the globe, but only one update. Inevitably that update is PresentPerfect. You update a lot, PP, and it keeps me interested.
On a more personal front, my wife and I reached the breaking point with this house and neighborhood that we live in and decided to move. I'd love to tell you that this all went very smoothly, but this is me that we are talking about. Of course, it's been a total shit show, and it's still going on.
Now, some of this is our fault. We have a house that we want to sell, and because it's our house, it's filled with our stuff. In order to have a place for the stuff, we have to buy a house, move, then sell this house.
To me, this is a logical process. What else would we do with all of our belongings? To the bank? Oh, man. This is the most bizarre thing that they've ever heard of and it's caused us no end of headaches. They see this as a HUGE risk, even though we have plenty of money to cover both mortgages for like a year. Well, we did until they made us put a bazillion dollars down to secure the loan. So because they decided that we were at risk for not being able to pay two mortgages for a few months, the solution was to strip us of EVERY SINGLE AVAILABLE CENT. So now we have no liquid assets at all and if any little thing goes wrong, we will absolutely not have the money to deal with it.
This is somehow safer for the bank than giving us the terms we originally started with. They can't explain it to me in a way that makes any sense. They are afraid that I'll default because I won't be able to pay my bills, so the only solution is to put me in the most likely scenario where I won't be able to pay my bills. Shrug.
Anyway, we've battled with this home purchase for like two months now as everything you can conceive about the process has gone wrong three or four times. My wife's full time job has basically been to get this thing done. It's been exhausting, but we are very, very close to being done.
I have some small hope that I could start writing again once I'm in my new house. It's secluded and quiet and doesn't make me dream about murdering all of my immediate neighbors. I'm sure there will be new challenges in the new place, but anything is better than this neighborhood.
So imagine that. Writing again. A guy can dream. First things first, I guess I'd have to watch the last season. I've only seen two episodes, so I'm quite behind.
No pressure, my man, but if you do find that time and energy again, I'll be here.
I've also been getting lots of phantom notifications this week. For me, they started just about the same time someone posted that they were planning to do some reorganization of the stories in some group folders, so I've been figuring it's most likely just a byproduct of that. That might just be a coincidence, though, so ultimately, I really don't know.
I had to turn off "story added" notifications for one group. I'd get a dozen notifications and it was just a block of titles.
As for the house situation, here's hoping it goes as smoothly as it can.
I AM DOING MY JOB
I got a lot of notifications because the print group is moving stories around. If you aren't following them, no clue what's happening for you.
Good luck with the new house being everything you dream it will be!

I'd certainly love to. We will see in a month or two. Unless something else goes wrong, we should be closing this deal in very early December, and then hopefully moving a few days after that. After an adjustment period, I hope to have a quiet space to be creative in.

It certainly couldn't get much more rough. I shouldn't tempt fate, though. If I've learned anything recently, it's that the situation can get worse...

Yeah, keep those reviews coming, but... when are you going to do a Roger Ebert-like re-review of Tank: Leg Humper where you realize that you've sadly maligned a truly classic and feel a burning need to rectify the situation?

I always turn off group notifications, so that's not the issue. It's just bizarre that I seem to log in often these days and see 10 notification. I keep wondering what amazing thing in the fandom has happened. Then I open up my notifications and there's one new thing in there. It's weird.
Haven't noticed the issue you did, but something to watch out for!
Good luck on the new mortgage and the move!
