My Top 10 Favorite FimFiction Stories! · 11:53pm Nov 11th, 2019
Hey guys, as the title suggests, I’m diving into my ‘favorites’ folder to show what stories on the site I enjoy the most. My criteria include how relatable the plot is, how enjoyable the story is, and how memorable I find it to be.
One more thing before I begin, these are just my personal opinions, so please don’t leave any hate comments.
Also, obviously, my own stories don’t count.

Coming in at number ten will be Summer Dancer’s Sungaged.
I had this story’s predecessors in my ‘read it later’ for almost a month. Once I finally read it, I went right to this one. It follows Sunburst’s attempt to propose to Starlight, sparking a bit of controversy with Twilight and Sunset (who is Sunburst’s sister in this).
What marks this story as one of my favorites is how simple it is. It’s nothing too long, it has some slapstick comedy, and a surprisingly heartfelt moment thanks to Discord. I’ve read it a total of three times now.

My number nine will be Justice3442’s The Benefits of Friends.
Any of you who are even remotely familiar with Justice3442 will know exactly what this is about. If not, the Main 6 and Spike are feeling uncomfortable about how Twilight’s been describing their relationships: friends with benefits. So, they call on Sunset Shimmer, who is mad about everything and is also an alicorn, to straighten things up.
As expected with Justice3442, this story is absolutely hilarious. Out of all of his/her stories, this is the one I’ve read the most. It’s full of comedy, though it does get a little mature toward the end, and I’ve read it nearly six times.

My number eight is CategoricalGrant’s (Para)Normal Activity
Despite what the title if the story is, this actually isn’t horror. Instead, it’s what CategoricalGrant does best: a cuddle fic. Basically, Twilight’s been sleepwalking and ends up cuddling with Equestria’s resident human. Not wanting to endure the awkwardness, the pair turn to Starlight for help and find out that Twilight’s been enjoying the cuddles a little more than she admits.
This story is cute, easy to follow, and short enough to enjoy. I’ve only read it twice, but that’s because it’s still relatively new.

Number seven is going to be TheNewYorkBrony’s A Flash of Embarrassment
Now, this is gonna get a little mature, but bear with me. The Human 7 are sharing embarrassing stories about everyone’s favorite Bacon Horse. So when Flash Sentry comes along, they call him over. Now, I should tell you that Sunset and Flash are dating again for the rest to make sense. The rest of the story simply consists of Flash and Sunset trading embarrassing stories about each other while they were getting...intimate, and I’ll say no more.
This story is short, but not too short. It’s a little out of nowhere, but most stories are like that. It’s funny, and I just find SunFlash appealing. If that’s not your thing, that’s fine.

Number six is TheKMExperience’s Antics of Anon.
If you’ve ever read anything by TheKMExperience, you’ll know exactly what to expect with this story. It literally just follows Anon after the events of Anon Begins, minus any continuous plot.
The reason I like this story so much is because of its variety. It comes complete with an Anon vs. Rainbow Dash pasta fight, a funny encounter with the CMC’s, a spoof of “Salvages” from Pocahontas, a somewhat creepy Nightmare Night story, and an entirely rhymed Hearth’s Warming story that’s full of heart. It’s the perfect mix of comedy and heart.

Coming in at number five is Peni Parker’s No Longer Living In A Van, Down by the River.
This story is simple yet strange: it follows the Dazzlings after the events of Rainbow Rocks as they try to fit in as the school’s, get this, motivational speakers. Sounds dumb right? Well, the first chapter is admittedly dumb, but the rest of the story takes a turn for the heartfelt.
This makes it so high for a number of reasons, the smallest of which being a Rainbow Dash x Sonata Dusk ship that just somehow works.
Also, it’s Peni Parker; she doesn’t get nearly enough credit.
This story is extremely underrated, funny, heartfelt, and it portrays the Dazzlings in a way that I can get behind.

Number four is gonna be Marezinger Z’s The Hunter From Another World.
I was extremely hesitant to read this, but after reading its predecessor, I’m so glad I got to it. It follows Sunset and her new human friend Hunter as they try to defeat three extremely dangerous convicts who escaped custody and made their way to Equestria.
This story is full of comedy, mixed in with romance (I’m a sucker for the stuff), and seriousness. I like how it balances the moral actions of justice, specifically how Hunter stood up to Princess Celestia after dealing with one of the convicts in a way Equestria doesn’t exactly approve of.
My only complaint with this story is that it goes a little too much into detail with the later combat scenes. Other than that, it’s golden in my opinion.

Call me biased, but my number three story is ThePinkedWonder’s When Dating a Sunset....
Now, I know the public is only four chapters in at the time I’m writing this, but I Have early access to the next couple of chapters. Obviously, it follows ThePinkedWonder’s OC, Eric Reed as he tries to deal with his new feelings for Sunset Shimmer, and I won’t say anything more about the plot.
Now, what I can tell you is that the rest of the story is filled with really good, heartfelt moments, and nicely developed relationship, and a satisfaction for my romance needs.

When deciding my top two stories, it was obvious what they would be. What was less obvious was their order.
That being said, number two is TheKMExperience’s Anon Begins.
I love these last two stories equally, but I’m gonna give the original the silver.
This story sat on my ‘read it later’ list for three months before I bothered to read it. Once I did, I had no idea why I put it off for so long. Like I said before, it follows Anon as he tries to become accustomed to his Equestrian surroundings. Sounds familiar right? Well, what makes this story unique is that it takes place during Season 8, and I say ‘during’ because it has Cozy Glow as a nice character.
This story has an actual soundtrack, some of the best comedy I’ve ever seen, Starlight Glimmer at her best, and a likable main character. It has heartfelt moments, funnily stupid moments, and it doesn’t lose my interest at any point. I won’t lie; I also like this story because it’s heavily implied that Anon has a serious crush on Starlight. Again, call me biased.
This was also TheKMExperience’s first story, so it was a good introduction to his writing skills and strange sense of humor.

And yet, my number one is TheKMExperience’s Anon II: The Second Part, the sequel to the last one.
This story faced a serious problem: even though the first one was a smash hit, there was no call for a sequel, kinda like the entire Jaws franchise.
Regardless, this story takes everything I loved about the first story, and multiplies it by six. It once again has a likable main character, funny, but not over the top comedy, heartfelt moments, and almost all the character at their best, including Discord and Wallflower Blush.
The reason this story wins out over the original is because while Anon’s crush on Starlight was just kinda mentioned in the original, it’s more of a main theme in this one.
This story is my number one simply because it’s insane, but funny at the same time

I am a fairly new author to the site and I have read a couple of theae stories already. They were fantastic reads. I will have to add more to my reading list. I seem to be reading more than writing these days lol.

This is one of my favorites out of all the stories I have written so far and I do have plans for a next installment that focuses on Sunset and Hunter's developing relationship.
