I should probably give y’all the link, but before I do . . .

You might remember that AlwaysDressesInStyle also wrote Car Wash which featured a whole bunch of background ponies. Since you’re reading this blog, you might also know that on occasion I write stories with obscure background ponies or with previous generation ponies . . . and I reckon you can guess where this is gonna go, but you’re not entirely right.

Or maybe you are, I dunno.

When I read the story, I didn’t recognize the first pony’s name, but later on, Sunny Rays showed up. And Flitterheart, and Feathermay as well, and those were nice, familiar names, since I’ve used all three in stories myself. Granted, y’all haven’t seen the last two yet, ‘cause they’re still in my collection of Soon^TM stories. Which I guess means I’ve been ninjaed by my own not-a-contest.

Honestly, I ain’t even mad. We got a cute story, we got ponies on Earth, we got a slightly befuddled human (as it should be), and we got obscure background ponies and obscure toy-only ponies, and we even got a cat. The Checker cab is the cherry on top.

'R' and 'E' are right next to one another on keyboards, so I dismissed 'Mareiott' as a typo and booked my hotel room online. It was only after I found a pony waiting for me at the airport that I realized it was, instead, a horrible pun.

I should also say that there are a few horrible puns and a few great puns and I’ll let you decide which is which.

Also, AlwaysDressesInStyle included an author’s note blog like all the cool kids do.

Also also, I used to live not all that far from the Checker factory, and used to work with a guy who drove Checker cabs for a living.

Also also also, I legit have a fic in progress about ponies at the Marriott. I’ve teased it a couple times on Discord. And, for the record, I must admit that I never once thought of Mareiott as a ponification and I legit feel kind of dumb for that.
