Notes from the Slush Pile · 2:48am Aug 20th, 2019
[In publishing, a Slush Pile is a set of unsolicited query letters or manuscripts that have either been directly sent to a publisher by an author, or which have been delivered via a literary agent representing the author who may or may not be familiar to the publisher.
I've been looking through some stories of mine, and came across one that I've always been hesitant to publish. It's one of the longest stories I've written (at 23,000+ words) and can definitely use some touching up, even a complete rewriting of some of the chapters. That being said, it's also one of the most reviled genres on this site -- HiE, and written in 1st person perspective.
One the one hand, I'd like to publish it (after some reworking and editing) if only to show I can indeed write more than simple short stories. On the other, I don't know if I want to deal with the hatred it may generate.
Decisions, decisions...
Thou knowest well what I can suggest, mine lief!
Please, send it to me at least, if 't be true thou dost not mind...
TL;DR: Dost that (publish it)!

I sent the first chapter to the last known email address I have for you.
If it's the story I'm thinking of, publish it anyway! Screw the haters!
