I was actually back up there about three weeks ago, but there was no good chance to get in touch (which I expected, which is why I didn't say anything earlier).
I expect I'll be back next summer (and quite possibly just about every summer, in perpetuity). I promise I'll let you know next time and budget more time so we can legitimately hang out. I'll probably also have good transportation, and will be able to manage a lot more time with/for you.
EDIT: Umm... actually, I've got a big trip to Asia planned next year, come to think of it. But I expect I'll still be out there. Just going to have to think harder about when. (Having my primary research collaborator based out of Winters helps enormously for getting into the area.)

Yeah, even if you'd had some down time, my life was kind of on fire the last two months as I tried to finish TEFL and write everything that needed to be written for the con.
But in general, any time you're in Winters, even if it's just taking a break to go get sushi in Davis together, I'll arrange my schedule to make something happen :) And I'll let you know if my schedule carries me to socal — now that I'm working for an ISP which serves a number of SoCal communities, that's not as out of the question as it used to be.
