A Bookstore Booth at EFNW 2023 · 2:08pm Mar 12th, 2023

This is something I've been thinking about for the past couple years, and while chatting with Wanderer D and Corejo at the con last year, I found out they'd been thinking about it too -- so we decided to make it happen.

This year at Everfree Northwest, we'll be running a bookstore booth: Twilight's Book Nook!

Aquaman's bookstore booth at the final BronyCon in 2019 was such a hit that it seems a shame to not have one at Everfree, the con that's always made a special point to include a full writing track of panels and events, so we're really excited to finally make that a reality.

If you have prints of your ponyfic, we'd like to make them available for purchase at the Book Nook!

A few notes:

  • You do not have to come to Everfree! We are happy to stock books from authors who can't be there.
  • There will be a minimum inventory of 10 and max of 25 accepted per title.
  • Everfree Northwest is a family-friendly con -- no NSFW, 18+, or otherwise adult material.
  • Any unsold inventory will be shipped back to you after the con.

We'll be requiring a markup over production cost for all books, to cover operating costs and local sales tax -- and hopefully make you a little money! (If you aren't interested in profit, we are more than happy to donate your share to the convention charity instead.)

Fill out our signup form here (if you have more than one book you'd like to have at the Book Nook, fill it out once per book) to indicate your interest, so we can start getting an idea of how many people want to participate.

Signups will run through the end of April -- make sure you sign up if you're interested! We won't be making last-minute additions to the roster, for the sake of our own sanity.

If you don't have prints of your ponyfic yet but would like to make some, you've got time! Sign up above too, and then you have until June 15th to get your book ready to order.

A few final thoughts:

  • If you have any questions, you can comment here, or join the Twilight's Book Nook FIMFic group or our Discord server to keep in touch/stay up-to-date.
  • This will go a lot easier if we can make arrangements with some Seattle locals to receive book shipments ahead of the con! If you or someone you know lives in the area and would be willing to sit on some books for a few weeks this summer, we'd love to hear from you.
  • Ponyfeather Publishing authors, no need to sign up -- I'll follow up with you via PM!

(Note that if you're an author whose work has been published in a PFP anthology like Chasing the Sunset or Badge Granted, I'm afraid it would be too much of a hassle to figure out funding/royalties and for too little gain -- I'll be taking responsibility for making those available at the Book Nook, with any net profits donated to the con charity.)

I’m glad to see you guys bringing the bookstore back, especially at EFNW!

This is amazing! What a great booth this is going to be!

And definitely super interested over here, especially since my co-creator and I finally finished the fanfic novel we've wanted to publish back in January. I'm going to hold off on signing up right this second because I want to make sure I can do it when I sign (excited to publish!), but putting the April deadline in my calendar for me to sign up before then!

Is it alright if we submitted a smaller collection of stories (say, around 30,000-35,000 words)? I have a prospective story collection I want to do, but it's a tad on the shorter side and I wasn't sure if there was a word count minimum for this event.

We have no minimum on word or page count! Our only restriction is that the content can't be adult.

Definitely fill out the signup form, and feel free to PM me with any questions and/or hop in the Discord to chat. We have at least a few people looking to put a book together for the first time and we have a channel dedicated to it.

Awesome! And oof, I know I won't be there in person and doubt I'll have something printable ready in time regardless.

Alas, I cannot go to Everfree Northwest, but if I could, I would have liked a list of all the titles with FimFic links so as to make picking stuff I'd like easier. That might be hard to pull off if the authors just show up at the con with boxes of books. :twilightoops:

We'll have a digital catalog up ahead of the convention. Can't do that until we actually have the inventory locked, of course.
