Honestly though (and keeping this post spoiler free for those who haven't watched the new episode yet), I think they did an excellent job on the backstory. It had everything that should have been there. Overall, an excellent start to the new season.
Was it show ruining or shark jumping? No. Not even close. In fact, I'm rather interested to see where they go with this, since it definitely seems like a long term thing.
Yap, it somehow recalls my memory about many stories (including Aurora) Thanks for Spike, AS and Cadance saving the day finally. It did not make Twilight too Mary Sue.
She became a crystal pony that time :D
However, I enjoy the plot that Twilight will find her destiny in Season 3. And both princesses/goddesses of Day and Night have the agreement of what to do with Twilight's next studies.
talking about reading your fanfic, somepony here is dying to know how it goes on I personally think that when Celestia and Luna sent out Twilight and you see the sun and moon and the stars hoovering in the background there was some foreboding going on
Also, I'm 100% they are not going to make Twilight an Alicorn in the show. Not in Season 3, not in the following ones. That theme is way too somber for a kids' show. With all the "you are now immortal and will have to watch all your friends and everything you know and love slowly fade away and die". Besides, it OK for the wise mentor figure (Celestia) to be immortal, and it's another thing for a character we're supposed to identify ourselves with to simply become immortal and as a result - distant from us.
Not just yours...
But from the beginning I was like OMG the're going to Alicorn Twilight!!!

But with Spike. So Spike is the one who gets to be the Alicorn of the Aurora?
The video was deleted. What were you pointing at?
