So I guess we're all giving our opinions on the finale now · 1:29am Feb 17th, 2013
Was it show ruining or shark jumping? No. Not even close. In fact, I'm rather interested to see where they go with this, since it definitely seems like a long term thing.
Was the episode itself good? Kind of. Honestly, I think the whole switching cutie marks thing would have stood fine as its own episode, and I think it deserved a full episode's worth of time. Twilight becoming an alicorn kind of feels like it got tacked on at the end because they couldn't find anywhere better to put it. I think it would have fit much better as the conclusion to an epic two-parter, rather than something that feels more like a condensed regular episode. Apparently we'll have to wait until next season for our epic two-parter, though.
On a separate note, I feel like Twilight was way too chill about suddenly becoming a princess, which is probably a product of trying to cram at least two episodes worth of material into one. There should have been a couple of minutes set aside for a proper Twilight freak out.
eta: Also, I think Derpy finally making a proper cameo is the writers' little reassurance to us that they've still got this, and maybe a little fuck you to Hasbro, as well.
I hope we see an epic twi freakout at the beginning of S4 when it finally hits her. Maybe she's just caught up in the moment, ya know?
This pretty much sums up my opinion perfectly.
Or she is still reaping the benefits of her last visit to her therapist (Candace) from the previous episode.
Agreed. The episode itself was a little weak, but I trust Meghan McCarthy and I'm really looking forward to seeing the continuation.
YOu know i was thinking that as well
