IN WHICH I KEEP MY PROMISE
A week late, but I did it. In celebration, have some chiptune Toto by an actual Sonic music composer
More news below the jump, if you'll be so kind as to follow…
As I'm typing this, I've posted the final chapter of Annie. Can't exactly say I'm out of my depression, but I also just needed it to be done. During re-editing, its length increased from 6,200 to 6,900 words. This chapter was always meant to be the longest, now it is by a nice amount.
There will be an epilogue to the story. It's fully edited and ready to go, but I'll post it tomorrow, along with an actual Author's Notes for the story as a whole.
Just like Annie herself, it's been a long strange trip for this story since its genesis nearly four years ago.
I scored a ticket to the Babymetal concert. However, because the section I was hoping to sit in didn't open up, I ended up buying one of the $200 VIP ticket I should've bought to begin with. So, I'm definitely headed to LA in a little over five months.
Due to my own stupidity, impatience, and lack of trust, I also ended up with a Floor (i.e. Pit) ticket that I'm going to need to unload before October. OR, if that doesn't work, since I paid nine bucks for "insurance", I can get my therapist to schedule an appointment for the day of the concert (a Friday) and file a claim to try and get a refund. But I'd much rather sell the ticket to someone who actually wants to go.
Speaking of tickets, I also learned that the Weird Al ticket I bought won't mail out until August 20th. I'd been getting worried about its lack of existence. He still hasn't sold out (though most of the good seats have). But, again, it's five months out.
I'm not looking forward to booking a hotel in LA this week. I can probably afford to wait on a plane ticket for at least a little bit. I haven't flown in ten years and, as I've mentioned before, I dislike and/or am afraid of authority figures. This includes TSA.
But, whatever. I'm going to see an Arena-style Babymetal concert with all the pizzazz they bring to their domestic (Japan) shows. I'm hopeful the group is now firmer in its footing now that they (and we) know their missing member Yui is never coming back.
Speaking of never coming back, my new friend who worked overnights at the gym down the street quit her job this past weekend (she'd put in her two weeks) in preparation to move back to Mississippi, so now I don't really have anyone locally to talk to face-to-face anymore. Story of my life -- everyone leaves me eventually (except my parents for now, though who knows how long my dad will be around).
So… yeah. I can't think of anything else that's happened that I want to talk about publicly.
I look forward to Annie's two readers - I mean it literally this time - seeing what my brain barfed onto the page. Maybe they'll have hated the twist, maybe I've justified it enough to make it believable. I've tried throughout the story to make it an intricate little machine with, like, foreshadowing and shit. Y'know, stuff that happens early in the story turns out to be important now. Payoff is good. So, look forward to the Epilogue tomorrow.
Peace out.
Congrats on getting the chapter done! I'll try to get to it soon.
I'm glad you got the ticket, and found out about the Weird Al one, I know that was driving you nuts.
Sorry your friend left. :(
