Bit of a lame premise, but I and many other people are hoping this episode could bring the long-awaited reappearance of Moondancer

Yeah, that's guaranteed to drive Twilight bonkers.

Uh oh, trouble for our bookhorse...:twilightoops:

I mean... you would expect Twilight of all ponies to know that not returning a book doesn't get the librarian fired? Like... how is this not clear to a bookworm like her?

5050064
For the third out of three episodes so far.

5050064
No kidding! I wonder if she will go Lesson Zero levels of Twilynanas.

5050069
proberly ptsd from being celestia student didn't get the homework in time means celestia will stop teaching me so she assumes the same logic works with libraries or maybe it was shine Armour being a dick again, twi if you dont take that book back you get the librarian fired it like the law

remember the rule people:

Ignore zimmerwald. He is here to hate on Twilight like he does on every episode-discussion post.

And there's the freakout. Begins in the teaser, continues for 20 minutes.

G1 Star Swirl figure? There are G1 Figures?

Classic Twilight, always overreacting. :scootangel:

"Abandon all hope he who entered" sounds familiar

5050097
We literally see a flashback to "classic Twilight" in this episode. She did nothing of the kind.

Moondancer is back!

5050105

Oh no, I was just commenting on the cover art.

5050109
ignore zimmer.

He has gained a reputation of just wanting to hate on Twilight for no reason other than his own freaky amusement.

Spike, "You sniff books?"
Twilight Sparkle, "You don't? "
Random pony backing away from the crazy.

From my discussion I have with another person, we figure 1 gold bit = $2.00, 1 silver bit = $1.00.
So the late fee of 28 gold bits = $56.00.

5050105
Maybe because she wasn't in a situation in which she would freak out like in Ticket Master, Swarm of the Century, Feeling Pinkie Keen, or a Bird in the Hoof

5050112
Speaking of crazy, we've now seen what being institutionalized in Ponyland would look like. It's not so bad in general, and would be good in particular for Twilight.

5050113
You're right, the impending apocalypse is a calm, tranquil time. And definitely not more severe than any of those.

What a nice episode and good lesson ^^. Perfection may sound great but in most cases it is impossible to obtain. So people should not let a single stain get to them.

5050115 God help me for getting involved with you, but you do know it's not at all strange for people to become calm and tranquil in times of crisis when, you know, they absolutely have to?

That pony with the freakishly pointed nose :twilightoops:

I don’t I would ever watched something so boring I could feel myself age. But this episode proved that it possible. Maybe it was my ADD but I was bored out my skull watching this episode, . And I saw the morel a mile away . This was bad

5050118
What's the pony's story? Why does he have such a long nose?

Yikes, Twilight, projecting super-hard in this episode much? :rainbowlaugh:

Kinda rude with the way she kept disrupting everypony's activities, though. :twilightoops:

:pinkiegasp: Muffin pone spoke again!

I liked this episode, while it started off kind of cliche and predictable and the filler montages were kind of annoying, I think the payoff was worth it. The message was great (especially for twilight) and the irony of the book made it better. Even tough twilight was doing her usual freak outs I liked that they weren't as over the top as before and I loved how spike kept reigning her in and keeping her on task and not try to run away from her problems, so the story itself was not groundbreaking , the character development for both twilight and spike was great. I did also like seeing moondancer even though it was a brief appearance.
8/10

5050117
It is, however, out of character for Modern Twilight to do that. In this season's premiere, a decided time of crisis, she was by no means calm.

All in all, a "meh" episode.

Wait there was a G1 Starswirl?:rainbowderp:

Also yay for Derpy having a role at kicking things off:heart::derpytongue2:.

5050135 Things in the series premier were decidedly a bit more dire than they usually are, in case you missed it, and even then she was more calm than in episode 5.

Honestly, I'm glad we had a relatively low-stakes episode to break things up a bit. Admittedly kinda predictable if even I could figure it out, but fun enough with a more restrained Twi freakout and all the cameos. Plus with the 'caused by episode 1' premise, it feels like a super low key version of Amending Fences (always a plus). Probably 4th for the season, but that's more to how high the bars been set over any major flaws.

5050156
So you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. Either a dire situation brings things into focus for a person and calms them down, in which case it's excusable for Twilight not to freak out there but is acceptable for her to freak out over comparatively trivial things - or a dire situation is especially stressful, which means it's okay for Twilight to freak out in both scenarios. Which is it?

Or, if her response is to freak out over everything, then two questions naturally arise: who thought that such a person would make for a good protagonist, and who would trust such a person with power or authority, or follow them in a crisis? The presentation of the character undermines the role they're trying to sell her in.

5050163 You do not know enough about human behavior to be having this discussion. Just... stop, dude. Just stop.

I know you think you're being entirely reasonable and rational, but you're not. Stop me if you've had this thought:

"I am not being unreasonable. I am a perfectly open-minded individual, and if they were to present me a logical argument I would change my mind. It's not my fault they haven't given me a logical argument, because obviously I would recognize a logical argument if I saw one."

5050166
We're not discussing human behavior, we're discussing the presentation of a character in a piece of media. A creation of artifice, an imitation of action.

5050166
Ignore him please.
He just wants attention and you are giving him what he wants.

Do not feed the troll as they say.

great episode.
As usual, Spike is best character when he is supportive of Twilight with a hint of snark at the side.

Love his helpful nature. Even helping strangers as a waiter in a restaurant he doesn't work for without complaint.

5050170 I know, I know. I just couldn't help myself. I'll leave him to his own world of insanity now.

If only there was an Ignore feature. Like Block, except I wouldn't have to see anything of his at all.

5050171
"Supportive" doesn't quite cut it. "Load-bearing," maybe?

This episode shows why I absolutely LOVE Twilight Sparkle and why I personally think she's my favorite character in the show. Her willingness to do anything to make things right and take action helps her show just how strong she really is. Can she go overboard sometimes? Definitely. But she never sits and does NOTHING, she takes action, no matter how little it matters. This was such an important lesson for her. She needs to know that she isn't perfect and that's okay. In fact it's very fulfilling like what Dusty said.

Loved this episode  Love Twilight

But she never sits and does NOTHING

Oh that's not true. Remember how she bemoaned having nothing to do when she wasn't getting called on map missions? Or the season premiere, when she was paralyzed into inaction? Or the last episode, where her friends told her not to do anything, to spare them her antics?

5050196
"A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare. The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right. The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright." Proverbs 21:6-8

Take this criticism as you would find a diamond in the rough, and invest it in your life.

5050209
Pointing out when other people say things that are obviously incorrect is hardly a lie.

5050069
Not trying to hate on Twilight or the episode, but it’s because their has to be an episode of Twilight freaking out over something, even though she’s learned this lesson a number of times.

I have my doubts about Twilight's ability to lead a whole country. She just can't seem to keep it together in a crisis. She panics way too easily.
