With the beginning of the end starting Saturday, my mind naturally turns toward the future. Will there be a Generation 5 of My Little Pony? If so, what would G5 look like?
Here's my two cents.
Yes, there will be a G5. Animation's been a part of the Pony franchise since the beginning in 1984, and I can't see Hasbro shutting down one of its more popular licenses because this generation's coming to a close.
As to what G5 will be, well, I really think it'll be online. Though the partnership between Hasbro and Discovery Family/The Hub has been good, more and more studios are going the direct distribution route. In that case, the episodes will be 5 or 10 minutes in length. G5 will probably be more girl-friendly than G4, as the show's main purpose is to sell toys.
