Song of Durin Luna
Former by J R Tolkien
The world was young the mountains green
no stain yet on the moon was seen
no words were laid on stream or stone
when Luna woke and walked alone.
She named the nameless hills and dells
she drank from yet untasted wells
she stooped and looked in mirrormare
and saw a crown of stars appear
as gems upon a silver thread
above the shadows of her head.
The world was fair the mountains tall
in elder days before Night Fall
of mighty kings in Griffinstone
and Equestria who now beyond
the western seas have passed away
the world was fair in Luna's day.
Queen she was on carven throne
with golden roof and silver floor
the runes of power upon her door
the light of sun and star and moon
in shining lamps of crystal hewn
undimmed by cloud or shock of sun
there shone for ever fair and bright.
The hammer on the anvil smote
there chisel clove and graver wrote
there forged was blade and bound was hilt
the delver mined the mason built
there beryl, pearl, and opal pale
and metal wrought like fish's mail
buckler and corset, axe and sword
the shining spears were laid in hoard.
Unwearied then were Luna's ponies
beneath the moon music woke
the harpers harped the minstrels sang
at the gates the trumpets rang.
The world is grey the mountains old
the forge's fire is ashen cold
no harp is wrung, no hammer falls
the Darkness dwells in Luna's halls
the shadow lies upon the moon
in Evergreen, in Hollowshades
but still the sunken stars appear
in dark and windless mirrormare
there lies her crown in water deep
till Luna wakes again from sleep.
A lampoon of Tolkien's song of Durin for your April first shenanigans.
This is also cannon to Ponies in Hogwarts.
Be sure to recite this travesty to all your hardcore Tolkien fans. XD
I wonder if anyone actually made this into a PMV on youtube

Can't say as I've ever run across a version of it.
