So, I haven't worked on Ofolrodi since April of last year.
Appledashery? That's been dead since December of 2018.
Ofolrodi/Austraeoh is my main concern. I want to get back to doing that. If it's gonna be anything like Utaan, it means copious amounts of re-reading and taking notes and then finding a rhythm once again. Sadly, my stamina isn't quite like what it used to be in 2011... but we all know that.
Appledashery sits in a distant second... more like fifth to the importance of rebooting Ofolrodi. I don't think anyone finds this as a surprise. I'm actually rather amazed that I kept the "story" going for as long as I did. There were times when I felt I was only continuing Appledashery to see what an unstoppable garbage fire I could make of it.
I still would like to do future parts of that fic. It does get happier, believe it or not.
And, in the event that I finally do get my act together, I have a very bold plan for how I can structurally do it. Basically, someone momentarily takes over for the chicken on narration duties, if you catch my pox.

My entire life is comprised of 95% planning with next to 0% execution. Back in high school, I drafted this entire plan for a "season" of Batman the Animated Series fanfiction starring a Gary Stu self-insert. Actually, come to think of it, I had planned three "seasons." My head conjured up maybe fifty episodes. I only ever "wrote" something like eight of them. So, most of my time in 9th grade was spent wandering around and imagining all this stuff to write and making notes about it but never writing it.
In 1999, I planned a six-part book series about Ocarina of Time. I only wrote two books.
In 2004-2005, I wrote 3.5 million words of Teen Titans fanfiction but only got about 25% with the entire vision.
So, needless to say, I have a history of planning more than I can/will actually manifest. With poni poni poni, however, I found the right kind of spark to keep me going... well... for the most part.
I think the first thing that comes to mind that fits your question is maybe Shellstrings. That was going to be a true-blue epic. Ensemble cast. Loads of arcs and adventures and character deaths/rebirths. Butttttttttt the pace was glacial and people didn't like it and while I had a grand picture in mind, 2016 happened and the fic hit the trash can. Just as well. I don't think I would have enjoyed writing that thing all these years after all.

I mean, the subject matter is deeply ingrained in mesa. And I spent the year of 2018 (and more) obsessing over making the big step and writing this sort of shiet. Like... lots of preparatory fantasizing and lo and behold this is the result. I like to call it "depressed creative edging." F'naaa.
In the end, writing a naughty story is like writing most of my other stuff. It becomes an engineering project with words and the upload process is also the same.
The end result, however, is completely different. Humbling to know that being second-most-subbed on Fimfiction.net means jank-shoes when all you put up is Flash Sentry sissy smut... and very shitficcy ones at that. I've yet to find my audience, and at the rate things are imploding, I doubt it's gonna be anytime soon.
I just need to get out of the rut of knee-jerk shitfic uploads... as if I have anything to prove by being more "active" than provocative. I have a few longer and more intricate ideas that I need to get off my lazy but and produce. I doubt they'll win me any more support or followers, but at least they might be proof of concept.
So, as I've come to agree after nice conversations with my best of online buds, I'm more or less "rebranding" SS&E. That's not to say that there won't be NON-NSFW stuff in the future (things reminiscent of classic SS&E), but apart from rebooting Ofolrodi SS&E is here to stay in this new red district light. It's basically me starting over again. If I was smart, I would have done it on an alt, like I originally planned. But I decided "fuq it" and went with my main account. Because why the fuq not? My old stuff will always be there. Nothing's going to change that. And I'm still digging this enthusiasm. F'naaa.

I know lots of people shat on this movie, but I just found it so dayum fun. The world-building was phenomenal. And--most important of all--it got me to read the book. Talk about a fun little nugget of joy in late Spring. Funnily enough, I went to see this film on the same day as Infinity War. It was a double feature, and I came out of it liking Ready Player One more. F'naaaaa.
I think the part I knew the movie spoke to me was in the early moments of exposition when Wade Watts as Parzival is just gaily skipping along in the Oasis as his avatar. That sort of liberal freedom in an online environment is at the heart of the crud I'm trying to do with 2019 Skirts. Soooooooooo yeah. Endorphins and inspiration all around, fam.

I am vaguely familiar with both characters, and Nietzsche knows they've become poster bois who are all over the Internet. But somehow I can't imagine that they're nearly as prevalent in their respective series as the perverts online pretend that they are. Something I stated in my first major blargh of this year is that I suck at making promises and nobody should take them too seriously.
That being said, I think it won't be for another month or two before I can have enough steam to get back in the game. I've said something like that before and here we are nearly a year later. So... :shrugs:

...it won't be a daily anymore. Hell, I can work on it daily, but I think what Ofolrodi needs--at least for a book or two--is to change its formatting. The daily format turned into a lazy habit that produced "meh" content. What I need to do is go full Background Pony on the fic. Well... maybe not full Background Pony. The chapters will be larger, but not 50k nightmares.
At this point, the story has gotten way bigger than the "literary experiment," as the zebra once called it. Time to treat it as such.

I think there comes a time in a fandom where "other" obsessions take hold over what was once prevalent. For most produces of creative content, this means hopping over to another subject/genre/fandom whatsoever. I'm still not done with poni, and praise Nietzsche for Equestria Girls cuz I really really don't like moist ponies getting moister.
I think my life--at least my creative internet life has been going down this slope for quite some time now. No point in holding it back. I know that a lot of people don't like it, and it saddens me that I can't win people over. But--it also doesn't surprise me. If someone like Spielberg (I feel conceited for the very notion of the analogy) suddenly came back filming nothing but Rated R Exploitation Flicks, the critical world would tear him a million new orifices. But... like... what if he didn't care? And what if he said "I did all the 'good' stuff already, now I wanna have fun?" That's where I'm seeing myself in all this. Yeah, it would be really nice to win people over, and there *are* ways of doing that. And I do intend to make the occasional "vanilla" fic, alongside Ofolrodi.
But at the heart of it all... I just don't give a damn. I think most others in the fandom should take that to heart. Nothing lasts forever. Friggin' have fun, y'all.

If I've indeed "assaulted the feature box" this month, then the feature box had a can of mace. Cuz the only thing that made it through, if I recall, is that Scootaloo dark comedy shit fic and even that didn't last too terribly long.
What's next on the horizon is more of the same. My one regret is that I've been too impulsive with the uploads, and this has resulted in most of my "smutty" stuff being shitfics. Yeah, I do enjoy comedy and I think we should see comedy mixed with NSFW more often. But I don't want that to be every story I write. I have plans for more "romantic" and "gentler-toned" stories. They just take longer to write, even if they're not necessarily all longer in content.
So, the real challenge is finding variety. Also, if I'm truly serious about writing adult stuff, I gotta eventually prove that I can write what readers want to see as well. Er... almost what they wanna see. I'm still not ready to whore myself out and produce horse orgies. F'naa.

The truth is, I started 2019 out with maybe 6550 or so subscribers. I am now down to 6491 at the time of writing this blargh. I treated "6500" as a milestone to highlight the fact that SS&E's subscriber base is essentially imploding and there doesn't appear to be a way to amend that. Let it be a lesson to any of you who decides to completely change the tone of what you're writing/blarghing. There are consequences to it.

I'm just getting my groove on at the moment. As I've stated before, Austraeoh will likely continue as a more traditional fic when I get back to it. I had the idea of once-a-week uploads. So... it'd be a weekly fic instead of a daily one. I'd commit to writing on it every day but I'd make sure the chapters were actually fully-realized and competent before uploading. But I'm still not quite sure yet. I want the quality to be decent this time, and maybe that'll involve updates every two-weeks. We'll see.
What I'm ultimately hoping to do is have Austraeoh being written alongside an SS&E longform fic of the pink variety. So it'd be like the old days of Appledashery/Austraeoh... only one half of the combo is less depressing and more princessy. F'naaa. That would put me in a happy, happy place.
