Scumbag Equestria Daily pre-readers institute strike system, so authors aren't put through a soul-crushing grind in the process of trying to get their story accepted. Constantly rejects stories without giving them a strike.
(I certainly hope no one from EqD reads that)
Seriously, though, I'm being held back by the same things over and over, despite having made rigorous changes between each submission. That is:
... due to issues with dialogue punctuation, thought punctuation, and compound word hyphenation, it cannot be forwarded to the pre-readers. This does not count as a strike.
Okay, the hyphenation thing is my fault, and can easily be corrected, but I've been told almost every time that dialogue and thoughts haven't been punctuated properly. I don't know what to try anymore.
By the way, this is the story I'm trying to get submitted (and failing miserably at).
If anypony out there knows what the hay I'm supposed to do to get this up to snuff (if you even care, that is), I ask, neigh, beg for your help. Please! Help me!
"Thank you for considering Equestria Daily as the future home of your hard work. We’re honored that you want to showcase your story with us. In order to maximize your chances of getting published here, take the following rules to heart (really, they’re not as horrid as you’d think!)"
This is why I hate people with an almost monolithic amount of power.
Seriously, Equestria Daily is the face of the fandom as a whole, and it is run by like... 4 people! They get to choose what happens in the end and only they. No sway, no choice, just the last say.
*sigh* I've seen some good stories on EqD. Really good ones. I've also seen bad ones. Very, very bad ones. So, it makes me wonder. How EXACTLY to they judge a story? Writing is a form of art. As such, you cannot instantly assume that your opinion is better than others. I think fanfiction gets tossed, 'Under the Rug' as it were, a lot of the time due to just simply people don't view it as a legitimate form of "Fan Service." Everyone can make a story, there is no art behind it, bla bla blah. Writing is a form of art, neigh, perhaps, one of the purest forms of art. Because, it is so subtle in its job. Stories and Legends were past down for years and years, and yet we don't fully appreciate the delicate nature of the art of penmanship as we should. Authors are artists of word, crafters of language. Entire beings manifest themselves through word, many a nation has risen and fallen by a man's pen stroke! To deny the power of the word, is to deny the power and influence of art itself. Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and other great writers moved the world in many ways just through the power of the pen. While I'm not saying every story is worthy of praise such as this, every story is worthy, at least, a second look.

Well, actually, I never said (or thought) that they were being unreasonably picky and choosy. I just wish they were the slightest bit clearer on what they believe I did wrong, so I could properly fix.
