Radiant Announcement (Release Date and Update!) · 4:33pm Jul 21st, 2018
Hello everypony! I have great news to share with all of you today. As you may/should know, I've been working on the planned sequel for Critical Mass for several months now, and after countless delays and now with only next week until my Summer semester of college ends, I am pleased to announce that Radiant (The sequel to Critical Mass) will be released soon!
I do have a few other things to go over here, but before I get to that, I am happy to announce that after months of waiting, the current planned release date is in two (2) weeks! If all goes according to plan, then August 4th (8/4/18) (the first Saturday in August) will be the day that I publish Radiant! Mark it on your calendars and get ready!
As I've mentioned before, I plan to release chapters like I have in the past, where each chapter comes two weeks after the last. As of right now, the story is finished as far as drafting is concerned, and has four chapters, which will be released over a planned eight (8) week period. However, only chapter 1 has had an editing sweep, and I haven't been able to reread the story in full. Because of this, there is the possibility for delays, but I think it will prove unlikely. I should have an adequate amount of time to finish Radiant's edits.
Furthermore, in relation to the edits, the first half of chapter 1 has had substantial edits, while the second half has had less substantial edits.
Additionally, I may make a few changes to scenes, in that in my editing sweep of Chapter 1, I removed one scene, and I plan to remove another scene which is in Chapter 3. These scenes didn't really contribute to the story (They would have, but they never went anywhere, since my plans for what I had intended them to build to never came to fruition).
I'm still not completely pleased with how Radiant ends. It feels like it's the perfect ending from my point of view of knowing the story, but it feels lackluster from the standpoint of "Is this actually the best ending for this story? Or does this ending ruin the story?" I'm not sure, but I'll probably make some revisions. If any chapter gets delayed, it will most likely be the last chapter.
There are also a few things I had planned to have in Radiant that never actually happened. Specifically, Cadance doesn't play as big of a role as I had planned/envisioned. However, in editing, I may attempt to correct this.
Next week, probably Friday or Saturday, I plan to finish up the Author's Commentary on Critical Mass in order to pave the way for Radiant.
Now, depending on how Radiant's release goes (assuming I don't feel horrified or demotivated and depressed by the response to it), I have plans for at least three more successive stories in this series. All three of which can be built up from what material already exists, which is to say, this series has a lot of Chekov's guns I look forward to shooting.
I want to turn this series into a masterpiece that you will want to reread after finishing the last story and see how everything is beautifully woven together.
