Ye Olde Cutie Marks Continued! · 12:55am Jul 8th, 2018
Why do I keep making talents with no clear idea of what the Ye Olde mark would look like? Why do I keep doing this to myself?
You might have noticed that I've marked Helping Ponies as Complete. It is. And I'm pretty happy about it. But the story isn't over just yet. I'm working on a sequel. When I've got a decent store of chapters finished I'll start posting them. But for now? For now...
What does a Strategy cutie mark look like? Football maneuvers? These ponies don't even have tic-tac-toe yet! A spear striking another pony seems more like a generic Fighting cutie mark, not really a strategy. Something to do with a net maybe? Nets require strategy.
I ended up making the Story-Telling mark be Two Hooves Sharing a Star Between Them and the Justice cutie mark wound up being a Descending Bird-of-Prey. Strategy though? STRATEGY? Uggghhhh....Why do I keep doing this to myself? Strategy strategy strategy. What symbolizes strategy?
...Google is being unhelpful. All the symbols that pop up have to do with things that don't exist yet in my universe. I can't use Chess pieces, can't use an arrow hitting a target though that's closer, and a light bulb? Do I even have to explain why that one wouldn't work? C'mon, work with me, Google!
Maybe a brain? Would Ye Olde ponies know how important the brain is? Didn't people a long time ago use to think the brain was for regulating temperature or something? I'm pretty sure that's what Ancient Greece thought the brain was for.
Maps don't exist yet. Pencils and magnifying glasses don't exist yet. Interlocking cogs don't exist yet. Maybe I should just have him invent Ye Olde Chess so I can give him a chess piece but that feels like giving up. I'm not giving up yet.
If anyone's got any suggestions I'd love to hear them!
