The Dusk Guard: Rise Tweaks and Changes · 8:31pm Jun 19th, 2018
Whew! After almost a week (I was juggling this project alongside my part-time, remember) I have finished going through The Dusk Guard: Rise, and making a number of fixes and tweaks.
Yeah, those early its/it's errors? Mostly fixed up now (I wouldn't be surprised if a few slipped through here and there). Other errors were corrected as well, though this was not an alpha overhaul. Repetitive sentence structure and other issues stayed. I wasn't about to rewrite whole swaths of it.
That said, I did make some other tweaks to things to clear up a few issues. The spelling of "griffon" is now standardized across the story, and I did tweak a few early, general background canon statements to make them line up more with what was developed after the story was written (the largest change was making sure all references to the Griffon Empire lined up with all the canon development that took place after Rise was written; can you tell this was an early project?). There were a few other tweaks as well, including the long overdue correcting of Princess Luna's dialogue in the early chapters with regards to use of contractions back to what it originally was.
So yeah. Is it going to totally reinvent the story? No. But it is a layer of polish it definitely needed. Oh, those early days. And now that it's done, well ... I can get started on The Dusk Guard: Hunter/Hunted at last! Believe me, I'm curious to see exactly how much better Hunter/Hunted will be after .... what? Five years and a couple of million words published. Five books? Yeah, there will definitely be some improvement across the board. Looking at Shadow of an Empire as a current example ...
Anyway, look forward to some little previews and hints in the weeks to come as well. The third Dusk Guard book is on its way at last! Rejoice!

So is it finally happening? After monthly checks of your progress next Dusk Guard book is next on the chopping block? Oh boy, my body is not ready for this!
Can't wait to know where the fancy armor doggo origins from and who his pet unicorn is.
But what interests me the most is what would Sky Bolt do with that giant ass battery if she had gotten her hooves on it.
Ah, the joys of reading through something you wrote years ago. It doesn't matter how much editing you did, you always find more errors.
That said, is there anything noteworthy about what you did with the Giant Flappy Kittens? It doesn't sound like it from this and there's obviously no way in hell you could reconcile your work with the garbage the show shoveled out, so I'm curious to hear what you actually did beyond the purely mechanical changes.

Oh, I solidified the spelling, and changed a couple of sentences that called it "Griffin Kingdom" which didn't line up with the "Griffon Empire" the DG canon later became.
