Still Alive, and Good News · 3:20am Mar 23rd, 2018
So I mentioned in a comment on "In Somepony's Shadow", I'm a graduate student who is now currently in the dissertation and teaching phase of my PhD program. Basically, I'm sort of an academic now. As you can imagine, doesn't exactly leave me with much in the way of spare brain power to do things. But, I never quite forgot about the story, and since some of my few other outlets for doing pony stuff have started fading as others move on from it, I needed something for me to get my Trixie fix. So....
I got two chapters of the fic written up and ready for proof-reading.
My plan is to try and take at least some time every week to write something. Gives me a chance to do something creative and get my mind off academic work so I don't get burnt out, and I get to write more Trixie, who is one of my favorite characters to write.
Now, this isn't me saying I'll release a chapter every week, just that I'll try and have a backlog of stuff so that when I do publish a chapter I got one in draft I can get back to, edit, and release. So enough I'm not doing "a year later put out one chapter and go quiet" stuff, but not gonna try and ram through a chapter every week. Maybe aim for at least one chapter a month minimum? I don't know, we'll see how it goes and how well I can keep it up, but I at least want to make some progress such that I at least get through the first sort of "arc" I wanted to do with it and have a complete story of some sort.
I miiiiiight also go back and edit some past chapters at some point, but focus will be on moving forward over anything else.
So yeah, I'm still alive, and I'm gonna give this story another shot!
Good luck to you my friend. Time is tricky to come by at times, but glad to see you not give up on something you enjoyed writing.
Not sure if you keep up on the episodes, but I would suggest the EQG short movie Forgotten Friendship if you want more Trixie inspiration. I am quite happy how they keep the character working and not mess her up as time goes on.

Listen, that movie has me dying for a Starlight/Sunset/Trixie episode of the three of them just being the best of friends. Go reformed antagonist club! Anything with Starlight/Trixie really just gets me really wanting to write her, hence my little short piece in the aftermath of All Bottled Up. It's probably my favorite duo in the series now.
Welcome back, I'm glad you're writing again!
