Civil War of Harmony Rereading Update · 7:37pm Mar 19th, 2018

How long have I been saying that I need to get this story reread? No, really, how long has it been? Five-ish months now? Longer? I'd guess 5-7 months, but I'm not sure. Regardless of how long it's been, it's completely terrible.

But hey, good news: I actually finished rereading it. Yep. Finished rereading Chapter 33. I mean, sure, I had intended to finish rereading the story last week, but then again, I could say that about every week for this year...

So. Yes. Finally finished rereading Civil War of Harmony. It only took much much much longer than intended. What have I learned? I did not, in the slightest, want to reread this story. Most of it, anyway. A few times were enjoyable. But for the most part, just no.

How fortunate that my torture is over. Which means that now I can resume taking this story on its great journey to completion! Light the rings, the Journey begins! What? I like Halo. Halo lore is great. A lot of good story to it. The Office of Naval Intelligence is messed up though.

Anyway, I got off topic there.

A detailed breakdown of what I have learned:
- I did not want to reread this story.
- This story really needs editing.
- No, really. This story really needs editing.
- I forgot so much about this story, even back when I was writing it.
- Never take such a massive hiatus on a story that's almost 200,000 words long again.
- I miss SkyDrake.
- This story is very different from what I imagined it being so long ago.
- I have improved as a writer since I started on this story.
- This story, if it was written competently, would end up being much longer than I'm projecting it being.
- I did not plan this very well. Which is to say I did not plan this story much or at all.
- Yet somehow, this story is still okay or decent. It just needs to be written better.
- I question this story's rating. It seems to be almost pushing the T rating, but I don't think it's M material- there's not too much description of the violence.

Well, that's that. I suppose now I get back to drafting the story.

Coming soon! Maybe... Chapter... whatever chapter it'll be. 34? Yes, Chapter 34! I'll get started on writing it either this week or next week. I have college to work on this week. We'll see if I get/make time.

But, hey, I'm working on it again... that's good, right? Or at least I plan to work on it. As of right now, my plan is to finish this story before working on other stories, such as The End War (and other planned stories) with the exception of a sequel to another story.

I already have some ideas for the next chapters... Who's ready to crank the dial up to 100/10? Oh don't worry about breaking the dial, it doesn't need to be turned down anytime soon.

I feel relieved to finally no longer have this burden to reread this story. I'll probably feel relieved when I finally change the "Incomplete" to "Completed." That'll be quite a day. I'm expecting this story to be around 250k words in length.

Well, comment below if you'd like! Also, this is my 100th blog post.

Well, it's good to see that you're raring to go at any rate. Just remember that for all the flaws you found while reading back through it, it was still an enjoyable read for many including myself.

I suppose I should keep that in mind... I mean the story wouldn't be so (relatively) well rated and read if it wasn't good. Still, it's hard...

happens with older works but a overall good story, and interesting setup. I find both Luna and Celestia believable in this. And I find it ironic that Luna is the more open minded of the two and currently has better relations with Twilight and would like Twilight's help in ruling. so I think an alliance is possible between them.

Cadance and Shining are my real issues with this story. I just don't see them blindly follow Celestia. They be shocked at the three way split and try to figure out what happened. and after Rainbow's kidnapping I saw them joining Twilight not staying. I am glad the Empire did side with Twilight but Cadance and Shining not really bugs me.

Good to see this story getting back on track. It was the story that introduced me to your work, and regardless of its flaws, I still love it.

Also

with the exception of a sequel to another story.

Hmm, I wonder what this could be. I bet I’m going to love it. I hope this story won’t be the twilight of a series. But I’m sure it really will radiate story to your fans. I’m on fire with these puns, if I get any hotter this place might just melt down .

I would tell you what I was thinking, but I'm afraid I don't remember what I had in mind, or if I really gave it any thought at all... :twilightsheepish: I do agree with you that it seems odd for them to side with Celestia, but I think part of it may be that they both know Celestia has ruled successfully on her own for a thousand years and they think she's wiser. It's also possible that she's manipulated them a bit. In addition, I don't think Cadance and Shining Armor actually know what Celestia did. I don't think I saw that happen in the story, and if that's the case, then canonically, neither of them know that Twilight was almost killed.

Now, when they find out... Celestia's going to have some issues.

That's good to hear. I figure after learning that they might defect. THat issue wasn't story killing but it a 'Would change if I wrote this.' Look forward whenever the next chapter gets up.
