Editing and Planning · 1:20am Oct 23rd, 2012
Well, after discovering yet another friend of mine is a brony, I've finally found the impetus to go over my story and edit it again. Sure, I was rejected by EqD, but that's not the end of the world. I'll make it better. I'll move away from the things I disliked that my original pre-reader thought I should keep, cut some of the scene changes out, and eliminate entire sections. My stories always get carried away with themselves. I'll bring it back towards the 2,500 word limit my first draft had, as that was part of the challenge I had set for the first writing. And then we'll see. I'd had several other stories planned, including several dealing with different theories on how the elements work and the nature of Alicorns. Maybe if -- maybe if.
I wouldn't worry too hard about EQD, it's cool for sure, but really it is not the end all be all for fanfiction.... I see a story as successful if people like it, not if it gets accepted by super nitpicky prereaders who tend to have varying standards. (Not to say it isn't awesome and likely to get your story a lot more exposure... so if you want to try for it again go for it)
However... seeing as this was really good.... as in REALLY good, like I'll definitely want to come back and read it at some point, I'm gonna download it now so I have it as is. But watch out, if you cut out to much (half of it?) I can't be held liable for what a rogue Pinkie Pie may do...
Not to worry, I'm sure it'll be great

Ha ha, I really didn't wind up changing too much, in the end. This is why authors shouldn't edit themselves: I'm far too partial to most of the layers. But thank you for reading again!
