Why 'Ashes' is now longer than 'Autophobia' and other stuff maybe probably totally. · 6:01pm Jan 5th, 2018
If you know a couple things about me, it's that I've probably/maybe made some kind of Satanic pact to update things like I do, or might just be some eldritch vortex that has legs but mostly just vomits up words. Something like that.
This, of course, never means that I don't go back and revise/tweak little bits and things in my older stories. I reread my stuff often enough, especially to try and spot a rare typo or something that might have slipped by and see the quality of my work. Etc.
Normally, I don't make blags for it though, so clearly this might have some relevance to your existence and what you like to read. Nifty, eh?
As I type away at Enemy of Mine and do things related to existing, and also I have a contest thing that's ending in five days and that's a thing that exists that you should pay a fraction of attention to maybe, I looked over a thing or two that I wrote with words in it.
And I revised it.
And then I revised another thing.
Also another.
Because I'm not the kind of person whose writing goes from 'My Immortal' levels of writing to 'William Fucking Shakespeare' I obviously don't have to rewrite shit from scratch or anything, just polish things in the way that quaint little window washing people silently go about their depressing existence with a thousand yard stare even if everything around them were to be consumed by fire, wolves, and wolves who are also on fire (or made of fire, pick one).
Or something.
So, the stories you still love and maybe never fucking read or I don't know, maybe you had them in your read it later or something reasonable now have some shiny new grammar and a couple new lines and things.
All my writing is consistent in quality with there being basically a couple of exceptions. Because I revised 'The Dark Side of the Sun', 'Ashes', and 'How to be Brave' the number of 'maybe not as good as basically all your stories with Sombra' (not that I mind that part~) has shrunk considerably.
So what are the stories left to revise? Not much.
'Doomsday Begins Here'
'A Blade of Moon and Stars'
'Ballad of the Forgotten Apple' (For all I know, this one might get more than a revision and a new cover/chapter something. Dunno.)
'Of Fever Dreams and Falling Stars'
'Antumbra' (This one is probably the most 'out of date' - a considerable exaggeration, but whatever - with the quality of current stories' editing and stuff.)
So, over the course of whenever possible, I shall be looking over those and polishing them up. Rejoice and read them, or start garbage fires of glee. Whatever you people normally do.
And while EoM is in progress, there's actually a new story coming out soon-ish for Cynewulf's contest, the one about trans ponies I mentioned, like, once before I think. Well, anyway, it's a longshot (10k) with middle English, trans ponies, flower symbols, and a couple other things. The story is called 'Forever Mare' and I hope you like it when it shows up! Also, unless you've been digging into my longer stories a bit, or have been following 'Enemy of Mine' (which obviously has a fair deal of OCs that have yet to show themselves in full thus far) this will be perhaps the first time I've created and written a historical OC pony to appear for extended lengths of time/have a fairly major role in the story since 'Mercy, Celestia' or Onyx from... well, the various other stories he appears in. (I'm wondering if it would be safe to say he's the most recurring one, not counting all the times he's just implied or mentioned.)
OCs are fun. Maybe I should write a blog or something on them. Dunno. Though, if you'd want to see more blogs on subjects like writing/genres/other things like that, then maybe express some interest in the comments?
So, that's a thing!
Yay, progress!
I'd like to see stuff on the genres.
