    I'm back, somehow :P

Holy hell, how I missed land and the internet... spent 5 months on the ship, which wasn't that bad. What was actually bad, you might ask? The 80-odd days we've spent staying at anchor near Paranagua, Brazil.

    80. Freaking. Days.

    BRB, Atlantic Ocean

So... it has come to this. The wallet is empty. The stars are right.

In other words, I have an upcoming contract as an Ordinary Seaman on a 30k ton DWT bulk cargo carrier. Don't expect to see me before September, although I might get lucky and find a wifi at a seamen's home or something.

(haha, I found the way to survive/hibernate until season 3)

    Pet peeve

Authors. Learn the difference between lust, love, and infatuation.

Love takes time to develop properly, and seeing characters described as "falling in love" after days or even hours of meeting each other is a little... jarring. That also covers sudden epiphany of X being in love with Y all along.

Even more jarring is the idea of shipping and clopfics, but I digress.

Holy hell, how I missed land and the internet... spent 5 months on the ship, which wasn't that bad. What was actually bad, you might ask? The 80-odd days we've spent staying at anchor near Paranagua, Brazil.

80. Freaking. Days.

I hate it when the ship's not moving. Harbours I can live with, they're annoying but there's always a chance to meet new people and see new places. But I live for the feeling of actually GOING somewhere, of the ship being in motion. That's unexpectedly Rainbow Dash-y of me, come to think of it.

Also, we pretty much ran out of food for the last couple of days. Fried chicken liver erry day, and some fish if we're lucky. Oh, and some mushroom soup, but that one was a rare blessing. Still, I suppose it's better than the olden days, without refrigeration. We DID manage to catch a some squids, which we're surprisingly tasty once fired.

All in all, it was another surprisingly good ship, great crew, and I managed to get a glimpse of Cardiff, Wales and Klaipeda, Lithuania.

Best thing about Cardiff was that we were berthed literally a rock's toss away from BBC Wales studios. I wonder if (and hope) that's where they shoot Doctor Who. It was a little silly, because while the building is pretty big, our cranes and superstructure still were visible over its roof. Come to think of it, 30000 dwt ships rarely go there. Ours was about 190 meters long, and 20-something broad, so she barely made it through Queen Alexandra's lock.

Anyways, good to be back, now I have a huge backlog of great stories to sift through :P

Shame about Season 3 still being a bit far from now, but I can live with that I guess :)

In celebration, have a snapshot from episode 2 of the first season.

Everybody derps.

Goddamit, Steven.
