This really sucks. I like Braeburn's Ascension; or, The Courtship of Pinkamena Diane Pie. I like what it's trying to do. I like where it wants to go. It just will not go those places. It will not do what it's meant to do.
This is a story conceived in good spirit, with good will, but with terrible timing. Terrible, terrible timing. It was started during a different season of my life, when I was a different person. I no longer feel I can bring the same sort of charm the story needs. I've never really been clear on its direction. It was, unfortunately, a miss-start and misstep.
Specifically, I think I seriously messed up the core of the story; the relationship between Pinkie and Braeburn. In short, I realized that Pinkie Pie was a side character in her own story. Not much important to do besides fall in love with Braeburn, when we've already seen so much more from her in the other Blueblood's Ascension stories. It felt like a disservice, and it's a big part of why I was never able to go back to it.
I offer my deepest apologies to fans of the story and the series. For giving you an unfinished story, for leaving you dangling for three years, and for the tactless apology before you.
In the name of my own sanity, in the name of moving forward, and in the name of giving poor Pinkie Pie closure, I am officially cancelling Braeburn's Asension; or, The Courtship of Pinkamena Diane Pie.
Oh well, that just frees up more focus for other stories.
Sorry to hear your decision but glad to hear you're giving some closure. Would you be willing to post the story notes at least of what was going to happen?
Sad to hear, I was one of the biggest fans of that story, but at this point I can't say I'm too surprised, I feel you've pretty much finished with the Ascension Verse in favor of Heart's Promise.
Besides, Pinkie gets plenty of juicy characterization in your other setting. I'd wager she's got pretty good odds of becoming the next Mayor!

Yes, I would like to do so. There won't be much, since my entire run on Blueblood's Ascension was basically seat-of-the-pants writing, with very light planning, but I can at least give a few bullet points!

Honestly, I think Ascension would have been done no matter what writing came after. I finished so well with Part III, with everything wrapped up, that I probably psyched myself out from ever continuing it. I gotta own up to my own bad timing here, I suppose, trying to write a prequel when the other three stories were signed, sealed, and delivered. I'm no Lucas.
