Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

The War for Equestria begins... · 2:30am Sep 1st, 2017

At 4pm Eastern time (9pm Greenwich) on Friday, September 1st with the launch of Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly.

The initial release will contain the prologue, first chapter, and a bonus chapter with the Gryphon Empire's war declaration. It will also be accompanied by a bonus chapter release in the original Rise of Firefly containing various maps and pointing to the new story, and multiple promotions in multiple groups. After that, expect one new chapter a day for the next three to four days. Note the initial chapters will be shorter than my norm, which is what I do for new story releases--make the early chapters more bite-sized so new readers can ease into the story and the world/characters it introduces.

So what to expect? You're going to dive right into the action during a very busy (and bloody) first day of war, with perspectives shifting in the first few chapters between Firefly, Celestia, Kaval, and Wind Whistler, describing the events at Epsilon, Canterlot, Gryphon HQ, and Fort Spur respectively. Get ready for a wild ride!

An early shout-out goes to my coauthor/prereading cadre of Leo Archon, AJ_Aficionado, SilentWoodFire, ClaytonTheHunter, Denim_Blue and TheGoldCrow for all the time they've put in helping me on this. It's looking good and I think will be enjoyed by new and returning readers alike. And for those of you who have offered to signal-boost, I would be most grateful if you do so. I'm going to put on an all-out push for this story, and I need all the help I can get to raise its heat level. It's true most sequels don't do better than the originals, but I'm sure as hell going to try to make this the exception rather than the rule.

Ready the Macro cannons.... We march to war...

Get hyped fam. This opening salvo is awesome and there's not much lead-in to get to the action. It's not going to be easy watching the ponies get their flanks handed to them in the beginning, but such is war for those who aren't prepared to fight.
