Hello everybronie, it is I, Posh, actor, writer, philosopher, creator of the hit series “Big Octopi in Little Delphi,” inventor, writer, occasional male escort, deposed vice-regent of Luxembourg, writer, actor, critic, writer, and overall tall drink of water. I’m here today to discuss a new trend I’ve seen in the MLP fan fiction community: Reaction stories.
The real chapter eight. What was originally labeled as chapter eight, “Pasta al Forno,” was an April Fool’s joke that sprang from a ficlet Dubs wrote me for Jesus Day. The chapter titles and order have been rearranged to reflect this.
"I'm not looking for pity. I'm trying to make a point. Girls like us can't rely on anyone, can't get attached to anyone. You just set yourself up to get hurt down the line when they're gone.
For those of you who don’t know who that is, he is Ferdinand von Aegir. For those of you who don’t know who that is, first of all, shame on you. Second, he was also someone named Jotaro. In English.
Or Josuke. I don’t watch that show. He was someone named Jojo; I don’t know which one.
Awoooo, awaaaaa, amooooooooo. I’ve finished communing with the Elder Spirits, those phantom deities which lend me their neurons to write these glorious literary critiques. They’ve guided me to two more stories, to add onto my previous blog. In exchange, they are slowly siphoning my lymphatic fluids for their own purposes (I think they carbonate it and use it as a mixer in cocktails).
4632102 I admit that the Fluttershy stuff kinda hit home for me; she was my least favorite character of the mane six for a while, because I thought of her as flat and lifeless. Coming back to the fandom, though, I found her growing on me. And the idea of her becoming more assertive and self-reliant over time, however slowly, is one that I appreciate.
I liked the episode a lot, overall. It's not flawless (HHHHHHHHURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR); it lacks a resolution, and I think Spike got shafted for Glimmy. In fact, judging by the fact that M.A. Larson wrote this, yet his involvement with the show ended after Amending Fences, I'm willing to bet that this was a season five script that didn't get produced* (it has that season five feel, when the show was so nostalgic and self-referential that it felt like it was gearing up for a finale), and that Spike's part was rewritten for Starlight when it got picked up for the current season.
But I still liked it. It wasn't the home-run that Perfect Pear was, but it made me laugh. And I appreciate it as a message to a fandom that hasn't traditionally done self-reflection very well.
I liked the song, too. And the visuals that accompanied it.
*If I had to guess why it was pushed back, it'd probably be because they had Slice of Life that season, and didn't want two super-meta episodes in the same season. Especially when one was a fandom tribute, and the other was an earnest entreaty for fans to just simmer the fuck down and enjoy the show for what it is.
4632122 I also liked Starlight's "manifesto" line. Just the idea of her committing her crazed, anti-cutie mark ramblings to paper and publishing them for the masses makes me chuckle.
I know he probably didn't write it, but that felt like an M.A. Larson line.
Aftermath - Spike asked Celestia and Luna to erased everyone's memory in Equestria about the journals and Discord got all the journal copies for firewood and we're back to normal.
4632122 Looking forward to catching up on it, especially given the additional commentary and visuals. We're about due for another meta episode. Also, I could totally watch Drama Rarity all day.
Anyone who gets seriously offended by it, I think, needs to take a long look at themselves and realize it is fine to laugh at yourself. Fandoms are crazy wonderful fun things... with an emphasis on the crazy.
Honestly, I'm more worried about S7E15
Just watched it, and I gotta say, I am so happy about the giant middle finger the writers levelled at the Fluttershy haters
And Tabitha's continued great performance as Drama Rarity was the icing on the cake of this episode

That episode was worth several good laughs.

I fucking loved this episode. So much.
I loved it, so much.
A comment I saw elsewhere that I thought was pretty funny was "Anyone who feels attacked by this episode is the reason it was made."
