I apologize for going blank for so long. My grandmother had a fall and then we had to scramble to help her. Now she's back and she needs more care than ever. I'm still dedicated to finishing this thing, but it appears life feels otherwise.
So! Another couple of months pass without word or a new chapter. I'd hoped this wouldn't become a habit for me, but this is how habits form. They sneak up on you like some kind of silent predator.
Do what you want to do. I was really enjoying watching sympathetic Loki try to make a new life and bumble it up with his obsession with defeating odin. Loki/Luna is a great pairing and you're writing him well. If you want to finish the story, do it! :)
I'd suggest only one real edit, seeing how you said you were gonna justify their behavior. This edit is regarding this scenario:
In one chapter, Thor crash-lands in Canterlot and sees several ponies dressed as Loki. The very next chapter, Thor singles out Twilight as Loki in disguise because she's dressed as him.
It is a continuity error. Everything else, if you assure that it is justifiable, then it is fine.
A couple of edits may be reasonable, but it is risky still as you may lose motivation. You could go the approach of comic writers and simply ignore preceding canon and write the remaining story as best as possible. If you do choose to continue, a lot of people would be happy. Ultimately, the question is what will make you happy. I am of the opinion you should do what is best for you regardless of your fans.
Just finish it off man. rewriting it from beginning will kill all your motivation.

I'm not really thinking of any major rewrites; just a few edits to make the Avengers seem less (naturally) bloodthirsty.

Holy Christ! I thought you were gone for good! Yes, please, continue!

They do seem pretty bloodthirsty in the actual canon tho...
