    Anniversary

I'd like to thank you all for following me as I celebrate my second anniversary on FIMFiction. It was eight years ago today, 29 February 2016, that I created my account (though for some reason my account now reads 1 March 2016). I've enjoyed my time writing on this site and look forward to putting out more work in the future. Thank you all and happy Leap Day!

    2023 Wrap-Up

    Happy New Year's Eve!

I've been reflecting on 2023, and to be honest, it's been exhausting! Over the past year, I:
    1) Completed 28 weeks of military training.
    2) Moved from the West Coast to the East Coast.
    3) Written 10 papers.
    4) Attended 4 conventions (BABSCon, TrotCon, Everfree Northwest, GalaxyCon Columbus)
    5) Published 3 stories.
    6) Drove over 9,000 miles.

    2023 Updates

Well, it's been a long time since I posted a blog. Three years, three months and nine days to be exact. Yeah, I'm not really for blogging. I don't feel the need to clutter up your notification box with details from my life. However, I do post when I have news to announce, such as today.

Today's episodes · 6:15pm Aug 5th, 2017

Well, here we are... August and this is only my fifth blog post for the year. But I just finished watching today's episodes and I wanted to share my thoughts:

Many of this episodes have been... meh. I thought the two episodes that made up the season opener were weak. A Flurry of Emotions, Forever Filly, and Fluttershy Leans In were not that great in my opinion. Rock Solid Friendship and Hard to Say Anything were good, but not great. A Royal Problem was the best broadcast thus far. And then we had today's episodes:

Discordant Harmony is a Discord episode. Episodes involving everyone's favorite draconequus are always fun, and after reading the brief squib, was excited for the episode, but felt as though the plot seemed worn. There were plenty of Discord hijinks, both from him and the other Discords, and seeing Fluttershy do her impression of Discord was great. But having Discord care so much about Fluttershy that he was willing to end his life (if you haven't seen the episode, it's not as dark as that sounds), was brilliant. Overall I thought this episode was one of the best of the season, and give it an 8/10. It still seemed as though it was lacking something, but then again, they only had half an hour to squeeze this plot in.

The Perfect Pear was a long time in coming. They've been beating around the bush for far too long, it was time we learned something about the parents of the Apple siblings. And what an episode. I was skeptical at first, with the whole Romeo and Juliet theme being cliché, but was thoroughly impressed with this episode. I had really expected the episode to be related by Granny Smith, only to find out it was told by Goldie Delicious, Burnt Oak, Mrs. Cake and Mayor Mare. And we learned a bit more about the pasts of the latter three. Plus it had a great song in the middle of the episode. I think what really drove home the point was the fact that Grand Pear ended up disowning his own daughter... pretty heavy for MLP. Even more so realizing he likely never saw his daughter again before she died. And now the Apple siblings have a new member of the family in Ponyville. I give this a 10/10 and declare it the best episode of the season. Let's see the writers try to top this one!
