A word from the Duke of Maretonia · 7:28am Jul 27th, 2017
Maretonia is a land of tradition.
We are an ancient land of Ponies, the oldest kingdom in Ponyland. We were never conquered by the barbarians when Equestria fell, we were never invaded when Canterlot and Baltimare fell. While the rest of the world burned around us, we continued to care for our families, and live our lives to the fullest. Honor runs through the lifeblood of our nation, a warrior culture that has ruled this land since the days of the royal alicorn sisters, and we live much as our ancestors did in those days.
I am Sunny Salsa, Duke of Maretonia, ruler of the nine tribes of ponies that make up the Maretonian nation. Tornado asked me to say something on our nation here, so I thought I would share some of my thoughts about my kingdom here. We are not much different than you Ponylanders; we share the same religion as all of you, we worship the horsemaster (Whom we call Itzamna) and pray to the many saints who serve him. We hold great festivals on holidays, and hit pinatas and enjoy great banquets of delicious foods, like barbacoa and mixiotes. And we Maretonian ponies love, laugh, and enjoy life as the rest of you do.
Our land is happy place, kept safe by the proud warriors of our nation. The Jaguar Knights are our protectors, drawn from the the ranks of the commoners. These stallions are armed with the deadly with the Maquatil and atolatl, fighting any foes who threaten our land or it's ponies. They are commanded by the eagle knights, pulled from the ranks of our nobility. Together, they are a deadly force no goblin or chupacabra can stand up to. With this kind of might, you can easily see Maretonia is well defended.
I dearly love ruling over such noble and proud subjects, ponies who care for our beautiful land. My beloved wife, Duchess Moonlight, is well versed and the history and customs of our land. She is like a mother to our subjects, throwing great fiestas, and inviting the all of the citizens of the capital to come to Coltapec Castle, our home. Her parties are events not to be missed, and her handmaiden mares prepare only the finest foods for the feasts. I can't believe that I-
Oh, I'm sorry, I have a tendency to ramble. Perhaps next time, my beloved wife would help me to elaborate on our long and complex history. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the tale of our lands I have commissioned to translate. I hope to talk to all of oyu again soon!
Sunny Salsa,
Duke of Maretonia
