Critical Mass Chapter 3 Update · 9:36pm Jul 7th, 2017
A quick update on Chapter 3 for those of you interested. I'm pushing it pretty close, but I think I can meet my extended deadline of tomorrow.
I'm maxed out on my writing ability today. I spent the past 2ish hours writing, and I managed to get out 3-4k ish words, bringing the chapter to 13,303 words. I am so, so close to being finished with Chapter 3! I can taste the sweet victory of completion! But now I'm getting tired and distracted.
There are just two more scenes to go in this chapter, and they're two of the most important scenes in this story. After that, I need to edit the chapter. Looks like I'm going to be on the clock tomorrow. Think I'll be able to get Chapter 3 finished up in time? I really hope so. I'll be crushed (kind of) if I can't manage to get these two scenes done to publish it tomorrow as per updated schedule. I might not get the edits done for tomorrow, but I'm going to try to finish the chapter tonight and tomorrow.
Originally, Chapter 4 was going to start out with the start of the "adventure" part of the story, but then it hit me! "Wouldn't it be great if I made Chapter 3 end with the start of the adventure plot? I can leave my readers on a cliffhanger!"
In all seriousness, I think this is the better choice of the two. Also of note, If I manage to get Chapter 3 out tomorrow, then I will try to get Chapter 4 out in two weeks. If Chapter 3 gets delayed, then I cannot say when Chapter 4 will come. It could be 2-3 weeks, or longer, depending on things.
Additional Notes: The author's notes for Chapter 3 may be briefer than normal, because of the fact it's ending on a cliffhanger. A long drawn out author's note with commentary seems like a bad idea for this, so instead, I am considering making a blog post for the Author's Notes, since it has a lot of commentary from me.
