The Realms Close · 2:58pm Jun 9th, 2017

Well, there we have it, the end of another of my large stories, Realms of Existence. I think I’m more proud of this one than Wanderlost, since it’s more consistent and had an idea of where it was going from the start. It just seems to flow better to me. The writing of Realms of Existence was one of the most natural feelings I ever had - I just wrote the story out, and kept writing it, until the very end. There were little if any interruptions (unlike the story I’m working on now... Yeesh...). I even teared up when I wrote the last encounter with Sperion - only time that’s ever happened to me when writing a story.

It was a bit difficult to juggle all the powers of the Seven - time in particular - but I think I managed pretty well, in the end. Every pony had their part to play overall.

Fun fact: Trekker originally wasn’t going to be evil - he was just going to be a bit of a neglectful jerk, and Implode was to be a bit eviler herself. But I found that, as I was going, I wanted to write Implode as a fully sympathetic character - and to make it truly fit, Trekker needed to be quite the monster.

Another fun fact: Concerning the lore, the Sixth level is Equestria Girls, which was mentioned in story. However, the Fifth level is OUR world - we don’t have the Realm of Magic or Realm of Distortion in our world. We’re simply Information, Spacetime, Matter-energy, Life, and Sapience/Sentience/Dreams. All magic in EQG is borrowed / on loan from Equis, which will in the future cause EQG to have its own Realms of Existence crisis, but not for a while yet. Our world lacks the Distortion - which means more than lacking the chaos energies and the eldritch, but also lacking in narrative causality. Our world does not follow the rules of a story, nor tropes, none of the kind - we just live without any bizarre rules that keep things interesting.

The Fourth Level (and everything below it) is, if you’re curious, a world without sapience, just information, spacetime, matter-energy, and life. The First Level has nothing but pure information. I never did make a Ninth level, so don’t ask.

As for the original Seven - I never gave them identities for a reason, they were meant to be faceless beings akin to gods from a previous, destroyed, world. The closest you’re going to get is the Dreaming Eye - I never got any further than that.

Regardless, the story’s done now - I have no plans to continue it in any way whatsoever, I think the story’s done. The stinger IS foreshadowing something - but it’s not what you think. Chew on that.

I’ll have a new large story starting within a week or two by the name of Stranger Magics. The production on this one has been a nightmare, but it’s finally coming to light. I hope you’ll enjoy my take at ‘E rated horror-adventure-type-thing.’
