Essence of Motivation

In going blind I noticed a lot of parents with children would tend to ‘avoid’ me. As a parent myself I really did not like this treatment. However the air of negative stigmas and false perceptions still prevail strong even at this time.
The above was not the case at BronyCon. Moms and dads talked to me lots while at the convention. It felt great to interact as a fellow parent with them in how we were having fun with our kids.
On one occasion my son was getting some face painting within ‘The Crusader Clubhouse’. A mother was next in line with her daughter, who was a year older than my son. As we talked she mentioned what brought her to BronyCon was how it somehow got her daughter with autism to start to come out of her shell. She was there with her to find out what exactly about MLP: FiM impacted her daughter in such a way.
Based on how many people genuinely complimented Ethan on helping me, the number of attendees who asked me genuine questions on how I worked around my disability, and that encounter I knew something had to be done to reflect MLP FiM’s impact on society’s view on those with special needs. It was just a matter of figuring out how.
