A good story displays a moral, the best ones attach you to the characters who display them.

New Chapter Out, and New Cover!

Background shamelessly stolen from an actual SoT book
I'd recommend giving that one a read!

    Featured?!

Y'know for a moment there I was scared I'd lost my touch when it came to writing after I took those years on hiatus... this is a really encouraging sign.

Thank you all so much for showing me I've still got it! It's reassuring, and more than a little flattering. Don't think I've really processed it yet, since I basically just woke up.

    Good to be Back

I won't promise that I'll be able to return to my old projects immediately, or even at all. But I did mean it when I said I was coming back! I've spent too long not doing anything about my passion for writing, and that needs to change. :twilightblush:

So, in I come with a brand new story to tell! Please, come and tell me what you think of the beginning to the Coves of Courage!

    The Old Bones Creak

The pegasus' eyes fluttered open blearily. How long had it been since they closed? Weeks? Months? His coat felt uneven and unkempt, his mane was longer than he remembered, and thick with tangles he could feel without even moving yet. When his eyes adjusted to the low light around him, the dusk seeping in through a boarded up window; everything he had known was coated in moss and lichen. Vines

You Know You're Writing a Masterpiece When... · 3:52am May 31st, 2017

... The first thought through your mind is: "Shit, I'm on a sugar high that makes the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog look like a subtle masterpiece, what obscure movie references can I make that possibly only three of my readers will get?"

And then you realize... why be limited to movies?

Needless to say, I've consumed enough ice cream and soda pop to bury manehattan (I just read a good shipfic, don't judge me!), so needless to say: I'm working on Siege of Helm's Pink. :pinkiecrazy:
And I'm also very disappointed that nobody's caught and/or mentioned the reference in the title, aside from the obvious one. :facehoof::rainbowlaugh:

You could reference the movie Dogma, I often ask people if they've seen it. And apparently it's been out so long that nearly every response is, "What's Dogma?"

4553541
Maybe... what's Dogma? :twilightblush:

4553545 You gotta make me feel old don't you?

4553548
Bro, I'm a dude who grew up with shows like Charlie Chan, The Thin Man, and Murder, She Wrote. Heck, I'm only a teenager, yet Manhattan Melodrama is still one of my favourite movies of all time!

It's not about age, I just haven't heard of a lot of movies, recent or not.

4553563 Still though, this came out when I was a kid.

The title is obviously a reference to the siege of Helm's Deep from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. :ajsmug:

4553701
Yes, that's the obvious one, but there's another one that seems to be going over most people's heads... :ajsmug:

4553831 ...Well, dang. There's so many that I saw... How am I suppose to know which one you're talking about? :unsuresweetie:

Here's something you could reference:
"Let's go home..."

4553872
There are two references in the title, Helm's Deep being the obvious one. The other has thus far evaded detection, or at least hasn't been mentioned, that's all.

4554060 ...Uhhh... Can I have a hint?

4554063
To do,
To do,
To do, to do, to do, to do, to dooooo~
Doodley-do-do...?

:trixieshiftright:

4554079
You got it! :raritywink:

(You didn't google it, did you?)

4554083 Booyakasha! :rainbowwild:

And no, I didn't google it. I grew up with that tune. :ajsmug:

Can you make a Skyrim reference?
Sweet rolls, dragonborn, something, something Skyrim. Or Morrowind. Even that.
~Melly~

4555506
I was actually planning on a Skyrim reference... :trollestia:

4555667
*Hallelujah* :P

Dovahkiin, dovahkiin, naal lok zin los vahriin. Wah dein vokul mah fey rak ost vaal. Arhk fin norok paal graan. Fod nust hon zindro zaan. Dovahkiin fah hin kogaan mu draal.

Lel, that's from memory. I find myself singing that so much.

~Melly~

Lol, translation:

Dragonborn, Dragonborn, by his honour is sworn to keep evil forever at bay. And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph's shout. Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray.

XD, I spent a time working on my Dovahzul. But honestly, I prefer the language I came up with myself, which is Drakonakas (the draconequus language.).

THvaas, THvaas, zav kuPHveka,
oPHma ra k'ov nuPHyain.
veTHkaPH ku ra navumh
m'ain zer ra pi'nuPHe.

Sleep well, sleep well tonight,
Under the full moonlight.
Listen to the melody.
Dream with the harmony.

Lol, I'm just rambling about fictional languages now. That's a lullaby I wrote. I sometimes sing on Discord. . .
~Melly~

4556615
Lel, I'm such a troll. I torture peeple so much sometimes. I'm sorry. :P
Though, I seriously would like for you to join Discord in the future.
~Melly~

4556620
Nah, you're fine. The only reason I don't have one now is Sam's still broken. Once she gets repaired, I might probably get one.

It's free, right?

4556691
Ah.
And yes, it's free. 100% (unless you get nitro. But it's not necessary at all. Just means you can send larger files and whatever)
~Melly~

4556620
Another reason I don't have one is This.

Pardon my bluntness, I just needed to speak my mind. :twilightsheepish:
