That's right, its May 24th and National Escargot day.
*Snails looks up blinking* "You are kidding right?"
Nope, May 24th is the official Escargot Day for the USA. In honor of well, the iconic french appetizers. Now in french, the word Escargot isn't just used to refer to the dish, its also used to refer to the living snails as well.
*Snails blinks* "Wait, Escargot means Snails?"
So lets all have a fun day, and enjoy our Snails.

How could he not know snails is also escargot? It's like suggesting Butters didn't know what margarine was. In fact I'm willing to bet Butters knows an assortment of words for frosting and toppings.
It was a joke :) though on the flip side, several people have said they had to look up what escargot meant :)
I knew this from Power Rangers. Trini got everyone but Billy to try some and I can't remember who but one of them was enjoying them till Billy spilled the beans.
I bet Snails knew and used it to try and tip ponies off but only Rarity was clued in. I think it would be appropriate as it would show he does have plenty of brains between his ears.

Oh boy, national "Snail on a plate" day!
Truth be told, I've never tried the stuff. I regret absolutely nothing... the thought of being given a snail shell filled with a deceased snail and cheese on a plate of all things fills me with anger and disgust. Imagine just being given snail shells on a plate and the little guys uncurl and expose their slimy selves.
It would be funny. But if it was the wrong day and you were starving, you'd be more angry than anything else.
