Well, It's That Time of Year Again...

One thing I always hated about March was how back-and-forth the weather was, and this year is no exception. It went from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to almost 70 in the span of a weekend. What does this usually mean for most people?

Fucked up immune systems, that's what.

    Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah / Kwanzaa... whatever you celebrate, I hope it's a good one. (To me, it's "Birthmas" because, something you guys probably don't know, I was born on Christmas Day, 1996. And yes, it sucks as much as you'd think. I'm now 20 years old - old enough to not be considered a teen but still too young to adult.)

Yes yes A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

You know, I don't usually get hyped for things. Correction: I don't get hyped for things. I learned my lesson after The Force Awakens.

But apparently not, because holy fucking shit TLOU 2 is coming out! :yay:

Hey, guys.

So, it's been well over a month since I last updated The Defector. Before that, it took me four months to finish and publish Chapter 14, and I only managed that because I cut out the final scene, resolving to use that scene as the opening for Chapter 15. Well, here we are, over a month later, and instead of coming out with the next update, I come to you with a confession of sorts.

I... royally fucked up.

"On what?" You may be asking. Good question, reader! The answer, of course, is everything.

This story has been a pet project of mine since I entered the fandom officially last August. In all that time, I have simply been writing it chapter by chapter and throwing it out there for you to read. I had grand plans for the story, especially the climax. But I never bothered to think of how I was going to get from the first chapter to that climax. I wrote things that barely made sense, and in my haste to make things make sense, I threw in sub-plot after sub-plot that really has no substance or place in the story I want to tell. I put out chapters at inconsistent times, with vastly different word lengths, just to keep my story alive. I introduced somewhat important characters with little to no true purpose, or even names in some cases, just to fill the roles I needed them to fill. There are probably more mistakes I've made but can't remember, as I'm writing this at 10 o'clock at night and can't be bothered to think of every little infraction.

Now, those mistakes have finally caught up with me. I have no idea how to move the story forward where it stands, because I didn't set up things correctly.

So, I need to take a step back. I need to make changes. Fix what needs to be fixed, and scrap what needs to be scrapped. I will need time to make these changes, so I am going to put the story's continuation officially on hold until I can do what needs to be done.

I am not sure how long it will take, and I ask for your patience in this. I will make another blog post as soon as all of the necessary changes have been made, to let you guys know.

Fair warning, these are going to be major alterations to the story. I'm not just swapping a few things out; this is going to be a complete overhaul of The Defector. I'm going to make the changes I feel are needed, as well as consolidate the chapters that are published to make them more evenly distributed length-wise.

Thank you for reading up until this point, and for your continued patience while I attempt to repair this story.

Congratulations you will make a great story if you are willing to accept your mistakes

I will read it when you post it

It is better to stop, go back down the wrong side of a mountain, and then swing around to climb the good side, than to parish halfway up.

Greatness is worth the wait.
