Doctor Perseus Reviews: "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree" · 11:50pm Apr 19th, 2017
Continuing my review montage with a look back at the fourth Equestria Girls movie.
Much like with the recent finales, I feel that each Equestria Girls film has been better than the last. I know some of you will probably disagree with me about liking the third film more than the second but, hey, we can all agree to disagree. Anyway, that trend has continued as I really liked this movie.
Seeing SciTwi deal with the aftermath of the Friendship Games and her transformation into Midnight Sparkle was an interesting subplot throughout the movie. It had a pretty simple conclusion but it was still an interesting conflict for SciTwi to deal with. Honestly, I think it would have been cool in they had pulled a Once Upon a Time and have Twilight and Midnight be split into two different characters. Twilight vs Twilight! Who wouldn't want to see that? Still, what we got was pretty solid. Sunset Shimmer also continued to be the best character in the EG movies. She's come such a long way since the first film and her friendship with the human Mane 6 is great.
The rest of the Mane 6 and Spike are as likable as always. The side characters got a lot of fun moments. The new characters Timber Spruce and Gloriosa Daisy were also likable. Timber proved to be a far more interesting love interesting for SciTwi than Flash ever was for Twilight. Speaking of, Flash has gradually developed a bit more of a personality over these past couple movies. His conversation with Sunset was honestly kinda adorkable. Are they set to become an item again? Who knows? Gloriosa, meanwhile, had an understandable situation and was actually a pretty intimidating villain when she turned into diet Gaia Everfree. It's also interesting to note that Filthy Rich is apparently more of a jerk in the EG universe. He actually reminded me a lot of Fisher Biskit from Littlest Pet Shop. I like to believe that they share the same universe Filthy and Fisher might be friends. Hey, if Family Guy and The Simpsons can meet then so can Equestria Girls and Littlest Pet Shop!
The songs were also really good. The favorite definitely has to be "The Midnight in Me".
So, overall, I really liked this movie. I think it's nice that EG has made its way to Netflix. And now we have three EQ episodes to look forward to this year. As with the main show, I'm interested in seeing where EG goes from here.
What did you guys think of Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree?
Another thing to note about Sci-Twi is that, like Starlight Glimmer, she changes her hairstyle after being accepted into the Mane/Humane 6. In Friendship Games, it was a bun. Here, it's a ponytail. Get it?
Also, even though it wasn't shown in this movie, the previews for this year's Equestria Girls specials reveal this to be Sci-Twi's new outfit as well:

I'd like to see that as long as they didn't end it in such a lame way like they did with the Evil Queen on Once Upon A Time.
I think you read my review before you wrote yours, and I see you very much agreed with me. Though I agree this is the best of EQG films, I still think Friendship Games was the weakest of the films. Though I wouldn't have described Flash as adorkable in that scene with Sunset, but it was still great.
Are you planning on reviewing on EQG specials that just finished airing by the way.

I'll get around to reviewing the specials soon. I've still got to write up my thoughts on the Doctor Who Series 10 finale.
And I personally liked how they wrapped up the Regina/Evil Queen problem on OUAT.
